An outstanding restaurant, with phenomenal food. It was close to our hotel and we visited early in the evening on a weekday (17:30~) so was very quiet, but the staff were super welcoming and the restaurant was very nicely decorated/set up.
Very warm and homely, but with good quality furnishings, very clean and well set out so each tables had their own space and weren’t crowded at all.
The menu was clear, in Spanish and English, and the was a great choice of food. All the good was fantastic, but the steak of course was cooked perfectly and the star of the show.
A lovely choice of drinks as well, and staff were perfectly attentive, without being intrusive.
If I was back in San José, I would go out of my way to visit again!

This restaurant is a fantastic choice, especially if you’re a steak lover! The steaks are cooked to perfection. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they speak English quite well. Plus, the convenience of being able to pay by credit card adds to the hassle. Highly recommended for a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere!

I wasn’t overwhelmed by Tierra Gaucha’s food. My entraña was pretty touch to chew although ordered medium. My girlfriend’s Vacío was anything but tender, too. And as a group of 4 we were sat in the middle of the aisle which took some points off the atmosphere.

Really good meal here – had the mixed grill for two and everything tested great, meat cooked & seasoned well and sides good too.
We were seemingly the only ones in as we were a little early, but a few tables were reserved so looked like it fills up later.
Good selection of Argentinian wines on the wine list too, and friendly helpful staff.
