Little Village on Airline in Baton Rouge has the advantage of a great waitstaff—attentive, friendly, and easily the best part of the entire experience. Unfortunately, the food and overall execution fall far short of what the restaurant seems to aim for.

A simple starter like a lemon-and-butter dip with bread could have added some life to the meal, but the kitchen didn’t deliver much brightness or creativity anywhere on the menu.

The drum fish was especially disappointing. The coating tasted like someone crushed up a box of corn flakes and called it a day crunchy, yes, but completely lacking seasoning and character. The soft-shell crab from the opposite problem: flat, flavorless, and offering no contrast to make the dish worth ordering. Grease in fryer needs to be changed. Highly important.

Even the basics need attention. The restrooms were in noticeable disrepair, which doesn’t inspire confidence in the restaurant’s overall upkeep.

Little Village has good people working the floor, but until the kitchen sharpens up and management focuses on the details, the experience won’t rise above average no matter how hard the staff tries.

I’ve eaten a little village several times and always had great experiences. The waiter was extra attentive this evening. We ordered the toasted ravioli and the order came out burnt. The waiter saw it and said that’s not right and brought it back to get us another order, a toaster ravioli. We did have a little longer wait for our food than normal, but overall a great experience.

Went there tonight with a 6pm reservation, we were seated right away at a great table. Service was outstanding. My wife daughter and I loved our meal and saved room for dessert. Meatballs and Spaghetti, Eggplant Napoleon and Seafood Fettuccine with Lobster Cream Sauce. I met the owner and he was very enthusiastic about how crowded the place was and was really nice to take a second to shake my hand and talk for a second while being busy. This is one classy upscale Italian Joint on Airline highway in Baton Rouge. We can’t wait to go back.

This was our first time to eat at The Little Village on Airline Highway. The restaurant is attractive and well maintained, both inside and outside. We found the atmosphere was romantic with a lively vibe. Our food was promptly served and we really enjoyed what we had. My wife particularly enjoyed the meatballs. The staff were friendly and our server was very attentive. We will definitely eat here again.

I’ve been to Little Village a couple of times, but this time we went for Christmas Eve dinner. To say the food was bad is an understatement. Every single dish we ordered was barring on inedible.
We chose from a wide range of options and everything was extremely bland. The price point is shocking for the quality of the dining experience.
I rarely write reviews, but I was left speechless (not in a good way) with every dish I sampled.
The service was fine. They were attentive, but nothing above and beyond.
I can say with 100% confidence that I will never be eating at Little Village again. Everything we were served could have been made by someone with absolutely no cooking experience and probably come out tasting better.

Had 8 P.M. reservations, but it didn’t seem necessary at this location once we arrived

Everything that we ordered was TOP-NOTCH! (…and better than the downtown area…which is good!)

The bread with garlic was a 10/10.
The seafood gumbo was THE BEST I’ve had in a while…10/10.
The arancine was a 8/10 because it just wasn’t my thing after I tried my seafood gumbo.
The chicken with capers served with angel hair pasta was a 10/10!!!
My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed his chicken Parm.
The bread pudding: 10/10 but I don’t particularly like the candy bowl it sits in.

The brownie cake was so light and enjoyable! 10/10!

Our waitress was a nice lady, too.

Molly was one of the best bartenders I have ever had. Even the other servers and bussers were very attentive and made sure we had no issues. Great positive atmosphere and fantastic food and service.

Great experience, my family decided to have lunch here for Father’s Day and truly enjoyed the food and service. Unfortunately, I enjoyed the food so much forgot to take pictures. Get the bread!!! It is absolutely delicious with the roasted garlic.

Came here after church for lunch. I ordered the shrimp and lobster cream. The sauce was seasoned and creamy, however, I was only provided three shrimp and didn’t have any lobster. For the priv of $34 I would have thought it would have came with more shrimp and would have had lobster. Sent it back for more shrimp and was charged an additional $10. Wasn’t completely satisfied with this lunch choice.

We had a large pickup to go order tonight that was terrible. We ordered 4 and a half loaves of bread and only got 3. The bread on the bottom had so much oil it was soggy on the bottom. We had an order of spaghetti that had a lot of water in the container. We had an order of shrimp and lobster cream and an order of seafood medley that we had to look for the lobster in both dishes and there was barely any lobster if any in either dish. I ordered veal piccata and it wad awful. Had absolutely no flavor or seasoning at all. We also had 2 orders of lasagna that was ok. Overall was a huge disappointment considering we spent $300. We were here 2 years ago and it was delicious, not sure what changed. ☹️
