Basically your local Chipotle. You get in line and pick exactly what you want in your burrito or bowl. As a huge Chipotle fan, I would say this place has its subjective pros and cons. I like the beans at this place better. They’re more flavorful and juicy. The queso here has a kick to it. The rice is thicker and tastes less seasoned than Chipotle. The meat selections are about the same! However one downfall is that they do seem to charge for the wrong items. We wanted the handheld burrito but they gave us the Rio burrito and charged more for it. So make sure to specify what it is you want otherwise they will assume you want the more expensive option. Overall the meal was super tasty and not too expensive! Definitely your basic fast food Mexican chain except that it’s a local chain. Had to try it at least once.

I don’t know why the Farmington location struggles so much. It’s unfortunate because it’s close and convenient, but the meals consistently fall short.
My pork enchiladas are often cold. They’re usually run halfway through the heating oven just long enough to try to melt the cheese, but it rarely does. It may sound minor, but it’s very noticeable compared to other Cafe Rio locations.
The employees preparing the food are great—very friendly and personable. Unfortunately, the experience drops off at the register. The gentleman working there seemed visibly annoyed. Having a coupon slowed things down and clearly frustrated him during a busy Friday. Once you step away from the register, don’t expect eye contact or acknowledgment if you try to ask a question.
To make things worse, the ice machine was broken on one side, creating a long line. Dr Pepper, lemonade, and horchata were all out. When we mentioned it, we were met with a nod but nothing was refilled, even after we had finished eating about 30 minutes later.
If you have the option, do yourself a favor and drive to the Bountiful location instead. They move quickly, have a drive-through, and consistently provide a better experience.

New menu is awful. Came on Friday for the special fideo and they didn’t even have it! Tried to get the tostada, but that’s gone too. Ended up getting the handheld burrito- it’s chipotles trashy sister. Burrito was soggy and fell apart instantly. Bring back the old menu or we won’t be returning. So disappointing.

New menu is awful! I couldn’t believe my eyes when i picked up the order. The new light salad is literally a few pieces of chicken and handful of lettuce for $10! I’m out. You lost a fan.

The food was as expected, sloppy with a burnt flavor, and overpriced, like every other cafe Rio.

Ordered a $12 “Sweet Pork” Burrito, but it was 95% beans and rice. The very little meat I could find on it was not sweet pork. Just dry pork. No sweet sauce in it. It also no longer comes with any sides like it used to. I also got a quesadilla kids meal for my son. The menu says it comes with shredded meat and cheese. They just put cheese on it. Then when my wife complaine, they seemed confused, like this is how they make all the kids meal quesadillas. Don’t say it has meat on the menu if you have no intention of putting meat on it. It also wasn’t a quesadilla. Just a tiny taco tortilla cut into 3 teeny tiny triangles. With a few shreds of cheese.
I’ll be eating at Costa Vida for now on. You should too.

This is a nice restaurant. Clean and inviting. Plenty of seating for bigger groups.
The staff were pleasant. I ordered a soup, and was disappointed that it was barely warm, but I ate it anyway. Will definitely be back!

I hadn’t been to Cafe Rio in years before this week. I ordered a burrito and quesadilla online and it was delicious, good portions and I was happy with everything. Went back 2 days later because it was so good, this time I stopped by in store after work and was very disappointed. There were no customers, and the 2 young girls behind the counter ignored me when I came in. They were doing something with the lettuce
and toppings on the line and both did not acknowledge me despite facing me and seeing me. Instead, they told a boy who was doing something facing away that there was a customer. As I waited for the boy to finish what he was doing and put gloves on, no one said a word to me. The boy was nice enough once he took my order.
One of the girls went to ring me up, and had bagged the quesadilla and it seemed she wanted me out. I reminded her I also had a burrito that was on the cheese melting belt in the back. She put a lid and threw it in the bag. I said I had wanted the toppings (lettuce, pico, sour cream) and she ROLLED HER EYES and threw it in a container which then leaked in my bag. She had a horrible attitude and super unwelcoming. This was Sunday at 8pm and I gave the benefit of the doubt that maybe they closed at 830? Nope, they close at 10.
When I ordered online I was able to choose salsa and pickled onions for the quesadilla and this time I got horrible service and no toppings for it. My burrito didn’t taste as fresh either. Disappointing for $35

My wife and I have always loved Café Rio, and go there frequently. However, with the menu change, you’re getting way less food for your money. I used to get lettuce, pico, rice, and beans and sour cream with my quesadilla. Now, they offer me a tiny cup of pico and that’s all I get. Everything else is extra. It’s a rip off. I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.
Customer service was also lackluster. Missing sides and employees who obviously didn’t care of we weren’t satisfied.

Do not come it this location. We went on a Saturday night and waited 20 minutes in line before leaving as we chatted with others in line saying they had been wating for 40 minutes. The workers behind the line were moving at a snails pace and none of them seemed to notice people walking out of line because of the wait times. Love the food at Cafe Rio and I suspect the food here is just as good as the very lucky customers who waited an hour or longer for their food seemed happy. Bottom line: great food, horrid waits. I suspect you could drive to another Cafe Rio buying food at the other location and then drive back to the Cabela’s location and eaten it there before your spot in line came up. DO NOT GO.
