I do not recommend. Cafe Rio is right across the parking lot. Ill try them next time…
The service was good overall, and the atmosphere was good as well. I just wish they would focus a bit more on making fresh, warm flour tortillas, as that would make the experience even better.
The employee who started my order was rude and incompetent right from the start. I quietly corrected a mistake on my order (their error, not mine), and instead of fixing it professionally, I got attitude and huffs like I was the problem for expecting decent service as a paying customer. This small-town ‘everyone knows everyone’ vibe apparently means they think they can treat outsiders or anyone who dares point out an issue like garbage.
The line was already painfully slow because the person ahead of me ordered enough food for a whole party—fine, big orders happen—but then when I asked for a large chips and queso (which I was fully paying extra for), I got openly sighed at and judged. Meanwhile, I watched them slash the price in half on someone else’s large order right before tacking an extra $5 onto mine for what amounted to maybe 4 extra ounces of queso. Inconsistent pricing like that feels straight-up unfair and greedy, especially after making everyone wait forever for last-minute massive orders.
To top it off, unlike every other Costa Vida I’ve been to (where they double-check bags and make sure nothing spills), this location couldn’t care less. My paid-for dip spilled all over my main dishes during the drive home, ruining the food I actually paid good money for. I called later when I was furious, only to be brushed off by what turned out to be just a shift lead (not a real manager), who promised a callback that never came. That’s why this place gets a solid 1 star from me.
The rudeness isn’t new—it’s happened multiple times before. And don’t get me started on their ‘closing at 8’ policy; showing up even close to that time means they’ve already checked out and are half-shut by 7:30.
The worst part? I never said a word about any of this inside the store. I didn’t complain, didn’t argue, didn’t make a scene—because I didn’t want to make the already slow line even longer for the people behind me. But that’s exactly why places like this keep getting away with terrible service: polite customers just pay, leave quietly, and never come back. Management clearly doesn’t care since my email went ignored too. Avoid this Tooele spot if you value your time, money, or basic respect.
