The roasted tomato garlic soup was the winner, and love the garden salad!
One of the biggest reasons our visit was so enjoyable was our server, Craig. Craig was incredibly funny, kind, and welcoming, which instantly made the experience better. He had a great sense of humor and knew exactly how to make us laugh without ever being unprofessional. His positive attitude made us feel valued as customers and turned a regular dinner into a memorable outing.
Craig also worked fast and efficiently, which was impressive to see. He took our orders quickly, made sure everything was accurate, and checked in on us at just the right times. Our food arrived promptly and exactly how we ordered it, showing that Craig paid close attention to detail. Even though the restaurant was busy, he never seemed rushed or stressed and handled everything smoothly.
The food itself was delicious, but the outstanding service truly made the visit special. Craig’s friendliness and efficiency showed how important great customer service is to a dining experience. Because of him, we left feeling happy, satisfied, and excited to come back again.
Overall, our visit to East Side Mario’s in Huntsville, Ontario was unforgettable. The welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and especially Craig’s amazing service made it an experience worth talking about. It was clear that the staff cared about their customers, and because of that, East Side Mario’s is a place I would happily recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and an even better time.
The food, however, was disappointing. East Side Mario’s used to be one of the best places to eat, no matter the location, but it seems like their standards and quality have declined. The chicken in the pasta and main dishes tasted pre-cooked and frozen. The Alfredo pasta looked unappealing and lacked flavor. The wrap wasn’t worth the price—Tim Hortons’ chicken wraps are bigger and better.
The Grilled Chicken Milano was just okay on its own, but we ended up cutting up the chicken and veggies and mixing them with a garden salad, which made it slightly better.
Overall, the service was excellent, but the food needs significant improvement to match the quality East Side Mario’s was once known for.
We ordered a Mario’s Summer Picks that included soup, salad, and bread (“all you can eat” per the menu). My wife had the soup, and I asked for salad and bread afterward. The hostess then told us we would have to pay extra because we were sharing. This “rule” was not written on the menu nor explained when I asked for an extra plate.
Both the hostess and waitress treated us as if we were trying to cheat the system, even after we pointed out the menu wording. They admitted the menu didn’t match what they said, but insisted their “rule” applied because they said so.
On top of this, we were even billed for two teas we never ordered simply because we asked for hot water.
The way staff handled the situation was dismissive and unprofessional, and it left us feeling singled out and unwelcome even we are Canadian.
Craig sat us at East Sides and served us. He was the only person working, besides kitchen staff. He was a one man show and still managed to provide great service.
We continue to eat here because of the great service and food. Highly recommend!
