From the moment you walk in, you feel rich. The ambiance is stunning elegant, classy, warm lighting, beautiful details everywhere. It’s one of those places where you immediately sit up straighter.
I ordered the Deconstructed Short Rib Ravioli and baby… when they first sat it down, I’m not even going to lie — I was looking at the portion like, “What is this?”
But LISTEN.
That truffle béchamel sauce?
That short rib ragu?
Those perfectly cooked ravioli squares?
Every bite was insane. I literally started cutting each ravioli in half just to make it last longer. It was that good. I’m not exaggerating when I say I want to go back today and order it again. Best $40 I’ve ever spent on a plate. (And no, don’t raise the price either )
My girlfriends ordered the slow roasted lamb gyros and I was judging at first. I said, “Y’all not coming to a place like this to order gyros.”
But this was NOT your regular gyro.
This was upscale. Tender, perfectly shredded lamb. Warm, soft pita. Fresh onions. Tzatziki. Lemon herb butter. Everything plated beautifully. It was flavorful, balanced, and elevated in a way that makes you rethink what a gyro can be.
The drinks were gorgeous. The vibe was immaculate. The whole experience felt expensive in the best way.
If this isn’t a Michelin star restaurant yet, it should be.
10 out of 10. I will absolutely be back.
Update*** came back with the Husband a week later. I had to have him try their ravioli oh my God he was so in love. Stella the manager came to check in on us. Nicole was our sever. She was very nice and knowledgeable and helped us pronounce all the things that are mean that we couldn’t lol
The food:
1. Saganaki – impressed they lit it table side and it was not too salty.
2. Grilled Octopus – well seasoned and a generous portion.
3. Tuna tartar – tuna was fresh and perfect level of heat.
4. Greek salad – no lettuce, a large chunk of feta, and a nice hit of acidity.
5. Deconstructed pistatsio – it has a deeply flavorful bechamel sauce and filled me up.
6. Alaskan halibut – light, flaky, and the exact counter point to the pistatsio (because my date was looking for a lighter entree).
7. Orange syrup cake – nice citrus and light (much needed after eating the pistatsio).
8. Chocolate cake – rich, decadent, and dense (paired well with my date’s fish entree).
The dining room is elegant, comfortable, and imbued with a golden glow from their choice of fabrics and lighting. And the ambiance is lively and energetic.
We had an absolutely great waiter who was prompt and efficient but never pushy. I had no problems ordering from the Restaurant Week menu, the “golden hour” menu, and their regular menu. If you do go during the “golden hour” (their happy hour), then you will probably get a better deal on their cocktails than ordering the drink pairing.
You should absolutely try this restaurant for Restaurant Week.
The location was perfect right in a lively district filled with restaurants and bars. The area felt safe, clean, and vibrant. Lyra’s ambience was on point with dim lighting, good music, and a cozy, welcoming vibe.
Now, I’ll admit, we may have caught our server on a rough day. I won’t go into details, but what truly stood out was how Isaac, the manager, went above and beyond to make up for it. One thing I’ve learned you can’t judge an entire restaurant based on one server’s off day, especially when the overall experience makes up for it.
As for the food absolutely fantastic. We started with the pita bread paired with feta fire cheese and a tangy tikki sauce, which I highly recommend. If I had one critique, it would be that the pita serving was small compared to the large bowl of dip (maybe it’s the San Diego in me, since I’m used to tortillas always being unlimited). Still, it was delicious. The drinks were solid, and for entrées we ordered the calamari, octopus, and fried goat. For our main . Each dish had its own unique flavor and really impressed us. Lyra did not disappoint when it came to the food.
Thanks to Isaac, what started off as an average dining experience turned into a memorable one. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for flavorful, satisfying Mediterranean food that’s not too heavy. Lyra is a must-try when you’re in Chicago.
