Floor-to-ceiling windows & imaginative takes on traditional Mexican cuisine, plus cocktails.

Cool, thoughtful meal with flavors I hadn’t experienced before. A few dishes were a tiny bit more acidic than my personal preference, but I guess that’s intentional. Sat at the bar with a great view of the kitchen — really fun to watch the team work. Beautiful presentation and attentive service throughout.

Food was unique and incentive. Many dishes I haven’t tried before and I was pleasantly surprised by the ingenuity. The only dish I didn’t quite get was the coconut ceviche (acid overwhelmed everything else including the caviar). Service wise, I expected more from a restaurant at this price point- no acknowledgememt even when we noted in our reservation and told the server that we were here to celebrate a birthday and anniversary; no one came to fold my napkin when I went to the restroom the first time; for certain dishes, the dining instructions given to us vs. the table next to us were inconsistent.

The restaurant is good however small though. We went to celebrate our anniversary and they offer two menus one oriented to live “the full experience” from chef for $180 dlls per person with the chance of paying additional $100 if you want to receive drinks prepared to match each of the 10 plates and the other option is a la carte. Of course is very focused to Mexican food with plates that offer pork, duck, fish, beans, guac, among other things. Taste and flavor combinations are good however nothing espectacular, being Mexican restaurant may imply the food is prepared with lots of spices hence this may not be ideal for all stomachs. Service is good they are always attentive to what you want or need. Mixology is also good, please ask for Margaritas with Mezcal and orange liquor, lime, some oil they put on it but drink is so refreshing. The restaurant have valet parking service but is not clear that you will need to drop your car going around the corner.

Alcalde is considered one of the best restaurants in the world and certainly lived up to my expectations. In fact, I came here twice, once for the tasting menu (3000 pesos) and once for the a la carte menu (which was a lot less expensive). I loved the food, the cocktails and the atmosphere. Really good service too.

I made this reservation back in November and was genuinely excited when I received a call a week prior that it would be a special collaboration dinner featuring multiple headline chefs. Expectations were understandably high.
The evening began strong. However, by the 8th course, the experience began to unravel.
The dining room became uncomfortably hot, with the tequila pairing. Two courses were delivered incorrectly. And we got repeated course twice. The delay between the 8th and 9th course was excessive, stretching what was presented as a 3-hour experience into over 4.5 hours.
The coordination between dishes and pairings broke down. The final course arrived before the final tequila. Unlike earlier pairings, the extra añejo was served without explanation , this removed the storytelling element that was clearly part of the concept.
When I raised concerns about pacing, I was told there were four chefs in the kitchen. Respectfully, that should enhance execution, not excuse delays.
Offering complimentary drinks does not repair a breakdown in flow, temperature, or service tone.
At one point, after expressing frustration about repeated water refills while waiting for the next course, a staff member jokingly said, “I’m scared!” when he got to me to refill my water. In that moment, it did not feel humorous, it felt dismissive a joke gone bad.
The culinary talent is there. The hospitality and execution, on this night, were not.
This is not written in anger. It is written in expectation. At this level, accountability matters.

I’m extremely disappointed by the service. I’m allergic to peanuts and before ordering we asked the waiter which dishes on the menu did not contain any. One of the dishes we ordered which he told us had no peanuts, had some. Luckily, when the chef came to present the dish, I asked her if there were peanuts and she told me there were.
I mentioned my allergy beforehand when reserving as well as to all staff members we interacted with during the service. I expected better from a restaurant of this level. This error from the waiter could have costed me my life or at least a trip to the hospital.

Wow. This place was fabulous. The food was out of this world. I enjoyed every bite from start to finish, I didn’t want the experience to end. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was so fun and inviting. The colors, art, aesthetic and feel of the whole place was excellent. 10/10 would recommend.

I was surprised by how easy it was to make the reservation. Although we were booking for a Monday night. We did the à la carte menu and it was the best option for us. The service and the quality of the food was outstanding. Please note this restaurant is not accessible for persons with mobility issues and the bathroom is located up stairs. The ambience could be improved with unique local music that was carefully selected to complement the space and the experience.

We went to Alcalde for my birthday. Upon arrival, the hostess didn’t greet us, I had to initiate the conversation and let her know I had a reservation. For a high end restaurant like this, I expected a warmer, more attentive welcome.
The meal itself was definitely unique, with beautifully presented and delicious dishes, some more memorable than others. Sitting at the counter was an interesting experience, as we could watch the kitchen in action and see the cooking staff at work. Our main waiter was attentive, and a few other servers, who were even more charismatic, brought out some of our dishes and added to the experience.
I can understand why some negative reviews point out that a few dishes are just “okay,” but there are also standouts that make the menu worth trying. Overall, it was a special dining experience, the ambience was just ok.

A hip place with interesting flavor profiles and delicious drinks. However, their dishes can sometimes eschew common sense savoriness for hit-or-miss courses. Nevertheless, this is a tasting menu experience with something to say.
My party of 4 all had the tasting menu and we had the pleasure of sitting at the chef’s table.
The wine pairings were decent. I was not challenged or inspired to explore past “this goes with this because it has a similar flavor profile”. Still, good picks that include some fun choices like orange wine.
The courses are small. A few of them can be a little challenging, but nothing too difficult to eat. The clear standouts are their peanut salad (the second strongest and most bold flavor of the evening) and the shiitake mushroom dessert (exceptional).
The service is, simply put, flawless. Our waiter was playful, informative, and attentive.
Lastly, yes, Alcalde is quite spendy. We paid around $1300 for 4 people, though that included wine pairings and cocktails.
I highly recommend this place for a special night out.
