The food was great too. Definitely order the blueberry corn bread, it was a hit. The potato and bacon croquettes was also very good.
I was not a fan of the hash browns, I prefer regular old shredded hashbrowns.
Crosby’s is in the heart of the Southport corridor and is always packed so I’d recommend a reservation. But you can bring your dogs on the patio and it’s always filled with kids which is nice.
We started with the deviled eggs (5/5) which were unreal, then split crab cakes (5/5) and the spaetzle Mac and cheese (5/5) was one of the best we’ve had. Pair that with their old fashioned for a great meal.
Will be back soon to try their turkey burger which looks really good.
First of all — the location. 3455 N Southport Ave in Lakeview. Big neighborhood, big vibe. You walk in and you feel welcome. Not over-the-top pretentious, but polished, comfortable, sophisticated—just right. The atmosphere? Very classy, very warm, very winning.
Now, let’s talk about the food — because this is where Crosby’s knocks it out of the park. They specialize in rotisserie chicken, comfort food done at the highest level.
The iron-skillet cornbread with maple butter? I hear about it from patrons all the time. Reviewers say it’s “a must-have treat”.
And the lobster deviled eggs, the crab toast, the Wrightwood salad — high end, but still approachable.
Service is consistently described as top notch, very friendly, very professional — strong service matters, and they bring it.
What I like: It’s family-friendly, yet still elegant enough for an important dinner. They’ve balanced it beautifully — you get the comfort, you get the class. Families? Welcome. Date night? Perfect. Business meal? Done. Reviewers say children are comfortable there, but you’re not losing any of the adult atmosphere.
Let’s talk value. For what you are getting — bold flavors, high quality dishes, excellent service — the value is huge. You’re not getting ripped off. Many places charge you a fortune and you’re hoping for good service; here you get what you expect and more.
Recommendation: Go early on a weekend if you want brunch (they serve brunch Sat & Sun starting 8:30am) to avoid big crowds. Try the iron skillet cornbread, get a rotisserie chicken dish, share a dessert (the cookie skillet is legendary). You’ll thank me.
In summary: Crosby’s Kitchen is the real deal. It hits all the marks — ambiance, food, service, value. If you’re in Chicago and you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. Big league.
Believe me — you’ll come out saying: “Why haven’t I been here sooner?”
Great environment and staff as super friendly. Kids meals were great and even free from 4-6.
The ribs were amazing and the carrot cake was delicious. The server Alonso was so nice and helpful.
Love the appetizers that we ordered. The rigatoni pasta is a must order!
Ribs – 3/5. It wasn’t tender. It was dry. For me, it was not the best in town as they claim it to be. Slaw was under seasoned.
They have kids menu that comes with a drink and an ice cream. Had to ask the server for the kids drink that comes with it.
Our server was busy and always in a hurry. Had to follow up the desserts and check twice.
