That said, the food itself was a big letdown. Everything here costs a bit more, but the portions are massive, so the pricing felt justifiable at first. Unfortunately, the flavor simply wasn’t there.
The Greek fries tasted like bland, frozen dry meat paired with very basic, flavorless tzatziki. The burrito was equally disappointing. It was extremely bland and honestly difficult to eat because it all blended into a flavorless mush. I specifically ordered the asada after seeing multiple reviews praising it, and it was surprisingly underwhelming. One positive note for flavor that I’ll say is the hot sauce was good and had a very strong kick. It caught me off guard.
On top of that, the tap water tasted awful, which only added to the overall disappointment.
I’m genuinely confused by the number of five star reviews because this experience didn’t come close to matching them. I’m not sure if something has changed or if this was an off day, but based on this visit, the food quality did not live up to the hype.
The vibes were on point, and they even let us try a new menu item. The Nutella eggrolls were really good, and my gyro burrito was delicious. The beer portions were a little bit that’s ok. Everything else makes up for it. Chef even checked on us!!!
I’ll definitely be back to try something different… and I’m coming with a bigger appetite next time!
As a San Antonia’s Native I make fun of transplants all the time for complaining of their lack of burritos here in San Antonio. Finding out this was a Californian burrito spot I was skeptical of the flavor due to my prejudice. But after the French fry barrier at the end of my burrito, it opened the gate way to one of the best things I’ve tasted. Fresh, savory Philly cheesesteak style. Sat in a round table passing around our burritos and every one of them was a win. Two different worlds, Cali and Texas. They’re in their own leagues, now I can understand how one could miss home when burritos taste like this. I’ll be back to try one of everything by the end of the year. Price point gave me a shock but after seeing the portions, I get it. You’ve heard of an all day lollipop? This is an all day burrito.
Good job ya’ll.
