Have been visiting John Cowley & Sons for many years. Love the live bands and the atmosphere they provide. However, I was caught off guard when receiving the drinks bill… I know prices are up but $9 dollars for a draft beer is approaching absurd. Will still visit in the future, but definitely less frequently…

Our favorite nights at Cowleys are the weekends of Blackthorn. It is a great venue for live music. Service is exceptional. Food is amazing. Can’t go wrong with anything.
There is an elevator for the second floor.
Parking in back. Pay attention to the one ways.

Staff was nice. Food isn’t anything to write home about.
This tasted like a pre-made frozen burger patty from GF Foods.
Idk what they were thinking bc they put rosemary on it. Rosemary goes on a lot of things but a Dry Puck of a burger is not one of them.
I didnt finish it. I ate about half and junked the rest.
And this was over $20 for the burger …sooooo…..

Arrived at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. Parking lot is a bit strange due to it being in downtown Farmington. There is lots of parking in the area. Walked in and the upstairs was closed so that’s a bummer. Was greeted immediately and was told to find a seat anywhere so we took the seat on the left next to the bar. It’s an Irish pub so you have to definitely order a Guinness. I didn’t get a pic of it but this pour is going to set the mood of the experience.
Well the Guinness came to the table still cascading which I was disappointed about. The head was not smooth and had a lot of bubbles and the glass was off brand and was dirty on the inside…ugh. Oh well. It was extremely cold but had some schtick so it was decent.
Order the Dublin burger which was delicious so that made up for the lack of care on the Guinness. Wife order the angry cod sandwich which was decent and the pizza for the son. Pizza was good for a Irish pub. If you looking for some good Irish fare this place is great but if your searching for that perfect Guinness keep driving…

Came here with high expectations based on other reviews. Could not have been more disappointed. Arrived at 5:30p, which should be a busy time. The furniture and decor remains unchanged from decade to decade. Sorely outdated at this point, and immediately sends the message that the owners just don’t care. Sat at the bar and there was only one other patron who was on her way out. I ordered a Tom Collins, which the bartender didn’t know how to make so I switched to a simple two ingredient drink that anyone could pour. I ordered the French Dip based on the server’s recommendation. What I got was some sort of steak sandwich. It was not a French Dip. It came with house made kettle chips. There was no flavor to anything. Chips were unsalted, the sandwich had no flavor. I can say the steak was cooked perfectly, but without seasoning it really was a waste. And why was there chunks of steak on a French Dip, which should be a thinly sliced roast beef sandwich? This was served on a ciabatta bun. It was the size of a hamburger bun, also strange but that was not the deal breaker. It was served with “au jus” which I put in quotes because whatever bottled concoction it was could only be described as soy sauce flavored with a bit of beef bouillon. It was so salty it was inedible. I don’t know what that was, but it was just awful. It also came with a horseradish dip and that was good. The food wasn’t horrible except for the fake au jus, but it was bland, not a French Dip, and quite small. The sandwich was $21 or $22 While I was eating, the two tables near the bar finished their meals and left. The server brought their dirty glasses stacked up to the bar and placed them next to me I was the only person at the bar!! Eating! Did not appreciate a bunch of dirty dishes set next to me! I was left alone at the bar for eighteen minutes waiting to pay my bill. I was literally the only customer there. Definitely will not be back. This place is clearly getting by based on their reputation, but this is not the pub it used to be.

Great Lunch out with my son, on a blistering Cold Michigan afternoon. Enjoyed sitting by the fireplace. Server was extremely friendly and pleasing. Love the place, only negative dinner prices during lunch hour no lunch specials

Great place, great decor and warm atmosphere. Drinks are good and so are appetizers and mains. I had crab dip to start and the fish and chips, both excellent.

Made reservations at a burger place nearby. They would not work with us on splitting bills for party of 21. Demanded that all are on 1 which we were not made aware of until we were being seated. So we walked out with no plan.
I saw the Sign for Cowleys Irish Gastro Pub and decided to walk over. The hostess said they had room for all of us and would split bill any way we wanted to. The service is top notch. The atmosphere is authentic irish Pub. Best of all the food and their drinks are wonderful. Shepherds pie, Chicken Marsala, Fish and chips and everything else our group ordered was very good. They also had great drinks. Their house specialty Manhattan is the Best I ever had. I would definitely recommend and return. Appreciate them saving our Bday celebration and it turned out better than it would in the basement I’m sure.
