Got a 1/4 lb hot dog all the way Texas weiner, and half chicken and half rib platter combo with garlic bread and mashed sweet potatoes. Texas weiner was incredibly delicious! $7.50, so some people might think it’s a little overpriced, but the 1/4 lb pork and beef deep fried windmill is more than sufficient for a quick meal, so the price is fair.
Before i left i got a 1/4 lb kraut and mustard dog. Wow!!
Bonus – they have 10 beers on tap, they’re open until ten pm, and it is not packed at all, very comfortable incandescent lights and fixtures like an old school pizza hut! I’ll be coming back here every few Fridays for pickup for the family because it’s on the way home!

You can never go wrong with Cubby’s ribs and Mac they also have solid burgers and hot dogs. This place really has it all when it comes to BBQ. While it’s a historic neighborhood staple, I do have to say the prices are pretty high. Every time I go back, everything seems to be marked up more and more, so keep that in mind.

Still the best ribs around. Grab your fork and pull the bones out, then prepare for the most delicate meat. BBQ sauce is on point a little tangy and not too sweet over all taste super juicy and succulent. Mac and cheese was out of this world. Perfection with a cheese pull you could use in a commercial.

Me, an out of towner… we laughed at the idea of finding a good bbq joint this far away from the Midwest… boy was I wrong. The ribs were perfect. The wings were fantastic. I should have gotten a salad that even looked great. The fries were just ok. But the actual food more than made up for it. Even our awesome friend from Europe though the food was good.

I had chicken tenders, a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, mac and cheese, and fries topped with gravy. The tenders probably were frozen before. The mac and cheese didn’t have a strong flavor; it seemed Velveeta-based. The BBQ sandwich was decent with good flavor but covered in sauce. The coleslaw was okay, and the fries with gravy were exactly as described.

Cubbys BBQ is definitely a hidden gem. I had the slow cooked baby back ribs and they were so tender. The flavor was surprisingly good. Being from the South I honestly didn’t expect it to be so good. Sides are good sized and didn’t disappoint. I met the owner who says he has been in business 43 years and I see why. I will definitely be back.

The plate is pricey, but you will definitely get your money’s worth.
The slab of ribs was gigantic. The soft, tender pork falls right off the bone.
As a barbecue sauce junkie, I highly recommend requesting an extra cup for that added touch of tangy, savory flavor.
A selected sided and garlic bread is also included. An up charge applies for some of the sides.

Well… The staff were helpful and cheery. We expected a basic atmosphere and expected minimal seating. While the chicken and ribs were soft, falling off the bone and quality, the sauce was gelatinous and far too tomato based and the rack of baby backs looked nothing like a rack of baby backs. Fries were quality but had not much taste. Garlic bread looked good but again no taste. Still trying to find great bar-b-q in Jersey and no, Mighty Quinn and the chain restaurants won’t do. Go if you have a hankering but don’t expect top notch taste. Clean, friendly and secure menu… My wife did like the fresh salad!
