Service was fast and friendly but the rib tips were inedible. Every bit of actual meat was burned to a rock hard chewy crust and the rest was just gristle and tendons. Gave up after having to pull inedible bits from my mouth with every bite. Tiny portion of coleslaw had a wierd flavor. Fries and sauce were good but pointless since there wasn’t any decent meat to eat them with. I wish I would have eaten there instead of taking home. I would have asked for my money back!

You don’t come to frankies for the atmosphere. One of the best BBQ HOLE IN THE WALLS you will experience. The sauce is good, but the meat stands on its OWN. Smoky flavor and juicy. I always get the rib tips and have never been disappointed!! Coworker got the spicy wings dinner and said it was some.e of the best wings he had eaten. Local joint on the west side of S. Bend and it’s a hidden gem.

Everything was on point just little to heavy handed on the paprika on the potatoe salad at first I didn’t know what it was because I didn’t know they put it on the potatoes salad like that but my food was delicious and tender cut fine there a picture of my potato salad

Staff was amazing and super friendly, but I nor my kids cared for the rib tips or the sauce. I got a turkey leg that I was super excited for, I didn’t know it was gonna have sauce all over it, but It was also severely over cooked… I was just disappointed is all.

Food: 5/5 (you can smell smoke and meat for miles!)
Service: 5/5 (although it’s through glass, the staff is patient and nice)
Atmosphere: 5/5 (I love the old school, bbq feel of the restaurant)

My experience at Frankie’s BBQ was much needed. I don’t have the greatest bbq near my home, but this bbq was well worth it. Located in South Bend, Indiana, the drive was worth the meal and smells. The generational hands this restaurant has been in are incredible to see.

The food was close to divine. It was caught off guard by the lovely smells of pork and chicken. I ordered the tips and fries. My first bite was off the chain, and I will never forget that experience. The food is to cry for.

The service was basic, but the service was incredible. Although the meals are passed to you through a glass, the staff treats the food with love, is very knowledgeable of the menu, and is very kind. I’m grateful for great service.

The atmosphere had great history. I appreciated the basketball pictures, the accomplishments, accolades, the start to finish, the love, the smells, all those small details gave the atmosphere life.

All in all, Frankie’s BBQ is a hit! This bbq took me home to Chicago, and I plan to enjoy their food again.

I’ve only eaten here twice (sort of?) And won’t be back.

The first time, it was just a simple pork sandwich. Nothing amazing but enough to warrant a return even though it seemed a bit overpriced.

The pictures are of the return. The corn was absolutely disgusting. How one manages to mess up corn is beyond me. The bologna sandwich was also a big let down (pic taken after first bite). It’s a soggy sandwich that looked very much slopped together. The fries are plain. They taste store bought (that or stored too long).

You could put a better meal together with a dollar general trip and it would probably cost less too. The BBQ sauce also would be better store bought because whatever the sauce is has no flavor

Great place to eat. The mini tips are good. Their tangy barbecue sauce is pretty good. You get a generous portion served. They also have chicken, shrimp, and much more.

Positives -The flavor of the barbecue sauce was good. Baked beans were also good .

Negatives- Rib tips not tender at all and some of the pieces were not edible. Baked beans had pieces of bones in them.

Traveled from OKC, OK to Michigan City, IN, and this is a must stop for some good BBQ, I ordered the rib ends cut up fine. You have to get the mix sauce on the meat and fries, I love smothered fries with the sauce.

I grew up on Frankie’s. Ate at every location they’ve ever had. I now live in Tennessee and whenever my family visits I have them freeze me some tip dinners and every time I’m home, I make a stop into the last Frankie’s remaining!! I can proudly say I’ll be eating Frankie’s tip dinner this Friday and bringing a couple top dinners home with me to Tennessee!!
