we had a lunch group of 7, we were asked if we had a reservation, we didn’t , but asked if that was ok. The hostess said it was fine, they were super slow. We were seated in a back room, and then completely forgotten about. We tracked down a staff and were given water after about 20 mins. The staff said our food would be out soon, we informed the staff no one had come to take out orders, not even drink orders , she said a staff was assigned to us, but she would take our orders, then left and never came back after a title of 40-45 mins we all got up and left, as we were waking out the staff that said she would take our order was standing around the corner and waved us good by and said she understood why we were leaving.
Here’s the thing, if we needed a reservation, we would have happily gone elsewhere, we are not picking or demanding people.
If they couldn’t accommodate our group on a slow day, why seat us?
This is the 1st time I have ever left a restaurant for bad service.
I had never eaten here and had heard great things. So to be treated this way was a complete shock.
Our group called Sassy Onion and let them know a group of 7 was coming in because by then it was almost 2 pm and they closed at 3.
Sassy Onion was more than happy feed us and take our large tip.
We didn’t see food for an hour and 20 minutes, no apology, no explanation, and obviously incredibly unprepared.
We had to politely ask them to at least bring the kids food out. They brought everyone’s food out but the kids….
We had to get up and ask them twice for ketchup just to be met with attitude “I only have 2 hands”. The ketchup took a other 15 minutes….
Food tasted like fried air, pasta was hard and crusty on top and wet once you cracked a fork in to it, which is normal right? Also, Zero flavor.
Server never asked us how anything was just came out and said “so how am I splitting these checks”….
They added gratuity and if the service has been appropriate, we would have all gladly paid the 20% minimum. We all believe in tipping. But this wasn’t even a 10 dollar tippable experience.
We will never be back. Horrible restaurant. No wonder why it’s empty.
I really liked the view from our booth, but the restaurant inside is just ok/nice – has a bit of a older feel. Appetizers and drinks were delicious, as was my food (Pistachio raspberry chicken). But I was incredibly disappointed with the seasonal Vegan GF pineapple orange cake. It tasted like bitter birdseed (and I’m usually good with those flavors, and seeds). The frosting was ok though. I tried a few tiny bites to make sure, then set aside. Server was unapologetic about me not liking it, pretty much hinting it’s fine so must be my taste buds. Other restaurants when there’s been a problem with quality and expectation, will take it off the bill. But she didn’t offer.
All in all, not sure I’d go back but maybe I’ll give a different dessert a second chance in the future. It is nice they offer many different cuisines, and l loved the appetizer combo plate.
Unfortunately, our last two visits were disappointing. Portions were noticeably smaller, and on both occasions we found a small fly in our soy sauce. Last time we told our server and she was very apologetic and brought me fresh rice. Today we awkwardly flicked it away, trying to hide it from our out-of-town parents. It was embarrassing.
In addition, the chairs are in poor condition, full of holes and patched with duct tape.
It is clear that the new ownership has not been a positive change for Marco Polo.
