Visited the Shamrock Hotel tonight and loved every minute of it! This is a proper local pub, not touristy at all, with a warm and welcoming vibe. The open wood fire kept the place cozy, perfect for a chilly evening. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was top-notch. The meals were huge and delicious, plus the local prices were a pleasant surprise. A true hidden gem in Hobart—highly recommend for an authentic pub experience!

Second time was like we’d ordered from a totally different place. The “Mexican” parmi had TWO corn chips and some sour cream. That was it. No chilli, no avo, no salsa, nothing. The veg was also hilariously bad. Ordered “mixed steamed veg” and got a full container of mashed potatoes with a few mushy, tasteless carrots, 13 peas and what I think was meant to be pumpkin puree. Tasted like sadness.

We rested here whilst touring Hobart and received a wonderful welcome. All the staff were courteous and helpful and the food was both delicious and very reasonably priced. It was so good that we returned at the end of our trip and found the same wonderful welcome.
Hobart is a coastal city with lots to see and experience. The shuttle bus from the airport is a convenient way to get to a number of hotels, in the city with reasonable access to others.
It offers the tranquility of docks and the business of shops and provides an excellent start and end to a tour of this beautiful and diverse island.

In Hobart for 2 weeks for work, went here a few times and each time they never dissapointed. Food was spot on, best steak in Tassie hands down. Can’t fault the service, excellent all round. Will definitly be my local whenever I’m over this way

Excellent value, solid traditional pub food where you can still get a decent meal for under $20. If you have the option of chips and salad definitely get the veg and some chips on the side of you really want.

The beef goulash and pork bar roast were excellent. Very tender and flavorful. Recommend getting a reservation. There were seats at the bar to eat as well without a reservation.
Update: we liked the food so much we went back for lunch the next day. Had the pumpkin soup. So delicious….hot, creamy, wonderful flavor!!!
