They didn’t have the option to select heat level online. I have a pretty high spice tolerance, but I tend to go medium so the heat doesn’t overpower the dish. This dish was very hot! I still ate it all and was able to handle it, but if we don’t have the option to select heat, they should not default to something this hot without warning! The dish had pretty decent flavors, otherwise. The naan was gooey inside, almost like it was filled with honey; I’ve never had a kashmiri naan like this before, and I couldn’t eat more than two bites of it — really sweet and weird texture.
If you order from this place, definitely stick to the Thai food. Chao Phraya has amazing curries. I was very disappointed by the Indian food.
I have had a few experiences of so called Indian food at Oxford , Dayton , Richmond and TBH I was very deflated at the so called Curry that was being served to my fellow American friends as the food was very poor.
So after a few recommendations from other South Asians whom I have met on my travels the same name popped up ‘Ravis’
We were met by a lovely lady who seated us I asked to speak to the chef as the previous let downs.
The main man Ravi himself came out and we chatted for a while and he said I got you don’t worry.
So I ordered Dum Goat Biranyi with Four Pulkas (chapattis) along with Lamb & Spinach Curry Garlic & Coriander Nan & a Beer.
The rice with the goats meat was so flavoured with the meat so tender is just melted away.
The Lamb & Spinach left my partner speechless
Ravi is the man his Dum Biranyi is just like home.
Noting that there are a LOT more tables between the two places now (30?)- so I can see how they could get overloaded during peak times unless they have more than 2 waiters? And they are good folks – don’t expect it to be like a corporate run place.
Their chicken is so tender! Idk how they do it.
Warning: Their food is always a least a bit spicy. Lowest they go seems to be like a spicy level 2 or 3 at other places.
Atmosphere and service makes it feel like you’re there to relax. The slower pacing (but not slow!) makes me feel like I’m eating at somebody’s home, not a restaurant. Some folk give 1 star cuz they want the hyper-speed of US culture. This place is an oasis of a slower, more humble culture.
I’m so glad Ravi’s took the risk and did something unique, rather than pandering to the masses!! Perhaps I’ll start looking at other 3~4 star rated places to find the best food.
PS – Haywards 5000 is one of the best beers I’ve ever had too. And I’ve had a lot.

place has best egg biryani. It has a very different flavor which makes me come back again and again. It is also called as egg pan biryani.
I even tried chicken pan biryani which tasted similar.
Another dish I highly encourage to try is Chicken/mutton special biryani which has fried chicken over dum biryani which gives it unique taste.
Food from here is delicious but did experience extra wait even when there are less guests and a few times food was not served as per request which they corrected after bringing to their notice.
