Needs and expectations. I enjoy riding on my bike from across town to get a bite and catch up with the Denny’s Tumwater Team – TOM – the GM is awesome , Heather is an awesome server. Shawna is my favorite server , makes me feel at home while I sit around and eat/enjoy the delicious food prepared by ALEX the CHEF. Not cook ! Hahah thanks again for the consistently great service !
It was just the chef and Janet working, and they made a wonderful team despite being extremely understaffed. The chef was even helping clean and support wherever needed, which we really appreciated.
Overall, the staff working that night went above and beyond under tough circumstances, and it really showed. Great job to both of them!
No compensation or anything, maybe because I brought the burrito home with me but I literally only did that so I can feed it to my dogs.
I’m not one to overly complain or ask for something to be comped, so I paid, tipped and left – dissapointed that I paid for food I couldn’t stomach.
I guess this is just a PSA that if you don’t like undercooked potato’s – maybe specify while ordering. I’ll make sure to next time.
Janet brought our favorite beverages before we ordered. Megan greeted us, smiled and seated us.
Our order was taken quickly. We like the employees, the restaurant is well taken care of and the restroom is nice.
We like the smoothies, they are not on the recommended menu list below.
Of course, we will return!
A great team works here, thank you!
Janet is the woman I met tonight, and her personality lit up the room like someone flipped on a switch. The dining room was quiet on a Monday night, just a few tables filled with what she affectionately called her regulars. A Denny’s that has regulars. How? Why? And then you meet Janet, and it makes perfect sense.
Not only was her service exceptional, she made the whole experience feel like I was having dinner with a friend who genuinely cared that I was there. Moments like that are rare. Moments that pull you out of the monotony of everyday life and drop you into something warm, human, and unexpected.
The food itself was exactly what I hoped for. Perfectly crispy tenders and fries that came out fast enough to make me wonder if the chef was part wizard. The space was clean, tidy, and clearly cared for. And even though this Denny’s shares a parking lot with a Chevron and sits at a busy crossroads, it somehow felt like its own little pocket of comfort.
I honestly cannot believe I’m writing an in-depth review of a Denny’s, and an outstanding one at that, but this place and Janet deserve it. In a world full of chain restaurants that blur together, this one stood out by doing something simple and rare. It made me feel welcome. It made me feel seen.
If you ever find yourself in Olympia and need a quiet meal with a touch of unexpected warmth, go see Janet. She’s the kind of person who makes a Denny’s feel like a community.
There appeared to be a flood inside the restaurant. The entire floor inside, corner to corner, had an inch or two of water. It was filthy water with garbage and food chunks in it. There were customers eating and checking out at the register and customers coming in (it was around 0830).
Proper warning signs were out, but an elderly man had already fallen.
A woman with a regular bristle broom (not squeegee) was attempting to sweep all the dirty water toward the front door as people were trying to go in and out. The doors were closed and no one was helping her so she was trying to open both sets of double doors on her own while sweeping the filthy water outside.
Not sure the cause, but it was an ugly situation during Dennys peak period, breakfast.
Service was excellent and food was great.
Love Denny’s and would come again here.
