JP and Gwynne met working in a Chicago style pizza restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area, in 1989. They fell in love and were married in 1995. Over the years they found they loved to make and serve pizza so much they wanted to open their own restaurant. That was when the idea of ACME was born. They searched for the perfect place in which to open their restaurant, and also raise their three boys. After much research, In 2013 they decided on Holly Springs North Carolina. Although they didn’t know anyone in Holly Springs or in North Carolina, they piled their three small boys into their mini-van and drove across the country to make their dream come true. I drove from Fayetteville to pick up a deep dish pizza. My uncle is visiting from San Diego, but is a Chicago native. He asked if there was anywhere to get a deep dish pizza. He hadn’t had one in years. I had heard from the “Facebook Foodies” group that this was the best place around for a deep dish. We gave it a try, and were not disappointed! We also ordered online 3 hours ahead and the pizza was ready when we got there for expected pick-up at 3 p.m. We received 3 complimentary drinks to go for the ride back to Fayetteville. We also ordered garlic knots that were delicious! While they were not traditional garlic knots, they were still quite tasty. They were more of fried dough with very little garlic flavor. They were still good though, but I was expecting something different compared to other garlic knots. No negative words for this establishment.

This place was great. Had the western BBQ burger and it was awesome! Our server was really cool and on point with the drinks. We were a big group and he was very attentive! I hope to go back and try the deep dish. I would’ve this time around but I wasn’t that hungry.

As a native Chicagoan whose first solid food was tavern-style pizza (you know—the real stuff we eat and hide from tourists), I don’t mess around when it comes to judging Chicago pizza. That said, Acme Pizza didn’t just meet my expectations… it absolutely blew them out of the damn water.
Now yes, I’ll pour one out for the missing OG Chicago tavern pie—but what they do offer is a legit Chicago-style stuffed pizza. The ingredients are high quality, the sauce is bold and savory with real tomato chunks, and the crust is straight up chef’s kiss. This thing eats like it was built with purpose.
I drove about 30 minutes out of my way from Raleigh, and I’ll happily keep doing it—especially for big Chicago sports moments (like a Bears playoff game… which, let’s be honest, don’t happen often). It’s genuinely a taste of home. I’m getting serious Giordano’s vibes, and I’d honestly love to hear the owner’s backstory—because I find it very hard to believe some random person in NC just decided to casually start slinging Chicago-style stuffed pizza at this level.
All that’s missing is an RC Cola. Seriously—if you’re craving hearty, authentic Chicago-style stuffed pizza, go support this place. It’s 100% worth the drive.

From a Chicago native, the best deep dish pizza I’ve had since I left Chicago 10 years ago! Fantastic crust, Great toppings and glorious Cheese pull! Definitely going back again. Too bad it’s so far from Roxboro, or maybe that’s a good thing because I’d be there three nights a week. And as big as a house. I’m going to recommend it to everyone I can.

We drove 1 hour 45 minutes to try ACME’s Chicago style deep dish pizza.. My birthday meal request was to have authentic Chicago style deep dish pizza like I had while visiting in Chicago. . ACME went above and beyond our expectations! The pizza was perfectly done and absolutely delishes. In fact we ordered another one to take home and freeze to cook and enjoy on another day
The deep dish pizza had a wonderful crust, not doughy and thick. VERY filling. The pizza sauce had chunks of real tomato and a wonderful fresh taste.

Wow! So impressed with the quality of everything I got here! Deep dish pizza was perfectly cheesy and the garlic knots were surprisingly hearty.

Had my daughter’s sweet sixteen party there with family. The food was amazing and Chris the guy who worked with us was very thorough in making sure we had an overall great experience. Service and Atmosphere was top tier. It was all of ours first time and we definitely plan to come back soon.

Buffalo chicken pizza was pretty good. Some bites didn’t have chicken or tomato or Buffalo sauce meaning not too evenly distributed ingredients but I would definitely order again.

First time ordering from here. I’m from Chicago originally so I am always on the lookout for actual deep dish pizza. My first order didn’t go great as they gave out pizza away by accident. We live 35 minutes away so it was less than ideal. They did get a new one going asap and were apologetic so that didn’t bother me much.
After trying the pizza I have to say it was very decent for being outside of Chicago. Crust was good which is usually where pizza places fail when doing deep dish.
Will come back again.
