If you are not into Puerto Rican food or into trying something new, this might not be for you. If you are either one of those, you hit the jackpot. Angela was fantastic. The music will keep you dancing in your seat as they prepare your meal. I love when an authentic food restaurant plays authentic music. Of course, I had my regular plate envy. This friend ordered the Cuban sandwich and it was fantastic, I did get a bite LOL. I will order that next time. I tried one of the plates which was incredible as well. Again, if you’re not used to the way Puerto Rican pork can be made, you might judge it as being overcooked, but it is the nature of the delicious beast. It came with a little green sauce and a little reddish sauce. Green sauce had a little kick to it but it was delicious. Reddish sauce reminded me of a thousand Island dressing. The good thing is, I like thousand Island so it made it a really nice dipping sauce. My plate also came with a little salad and I was able to get a little oil and vinegar cup for that. They did not have unsweetened tea but said that they were going to try to get it. They have fountain drinks, plastic bottle US drinks and drinks from four other countries (Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and Columbia). How great is that? This friend and I made it inside in the nick of time because as we continued to eat- it kept filling up and filling up and filling up. Check your Google report for busy times. It seemed pretty accurate for this place. Also keep in mind the Harry Wurzbach side is where the entrance is but there is another door facing the side parking lot. That door does not operate (in or out). The actual door is the one facing Harry wurzbach. We sat there watching people constantly go to the wrong door. So we’re assuming we were not the first people to have their first time here. And I’m sure that out of all of us that were coming for the first time we were all already planning for the next time. I know WE were. This friend and their family lived in Puerto Rico and said it was so wonderful and brought back a lot of memories, the music, and the food. They actually texted a picture of the food and menu to their sister who said she was ready to go the next day lol

So so good. Definitely the best Puerto Rican food I’ve had outside of Florida! The service was great too and the dining hall had lots of room to eat!

Must eat spot in SA for sure!

This was so good. The churrasca was so tender (skirt steak). The yucca in MOJO sauce made me melt. This was nostalgic as I haven’t had Puerto Rican food (which is pretty close to Cuban food) in years. The server has a beautiful accent that reminds me of home.

Great tasting food. I had 1/2 chicken and the sauce on the side, and the flavors were amazing. Service was welcoming. Coming back soon with company. This is my second time here, and both visits have been great.

Delicious!!! came here years ago with a different owner & it was ok. This owners taste is much better. Lady in the front welcomes each person walking in each time! Love that they always have pasteles,, although Delicious, I would have liked it to be a tad bigger. Wish they stayed open later than 7

I ordered arroz con gandules, pernil, pollo asado, and maduros from El Pilon for a gathering of 30 people, and everything was absolutely incredible! The food was flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and tasted truly authentic—just like home cooking. Every guest went back for seconds (and thirds!), and we couldn’t stop talking about how good it was.
The team at El Pilon was also fantastic—friendly, professional, and made the entire ordering process easy from start to finish. I can’t recommend them enough for anyone craving real Puerto Rican food in San Antonio. Five stars all the way!

When I am in town I have to make sure and stop by my favorite Puerto Rican food restaurant for their amazing lunched. They are located right outside of Ft. Sam Army base and lunch time is the best time to go get some great food for a great price!

The Rotisserie chicken & roasted pork is so good; they are both cooked excellent, seasoned perfectly and taste amazing! I’m not sure what they call the rice, but it really good too and I recommend trying the the rice that is cooked with meat inside. They also have a choice of black beans or pinto beans to add and of course theres plantain and a side salad.

I usually get the two meat plate for lunch and the portions are incredible. It’s enough food for me to have for lunch and dinner.

The staff are always smiling and friendly and they always seem to go the extra mile to make sure that you get everything that you need. The restaurant is always very clean and I really appreciate that their bathrooms are always serviceable and clean.

Excellent delicious satisfying lunches for a great price!

Staff are always pleasant, helpful and very accommodating. I love having lunch here because I am never disappointed.

Definitely a GO-TO lunch spot in San Antonio. They recently renovated and the decor looks great. New flooring, New paint makes the place much bigger. Excellent choice in the upgrades El Pilon team.

Friendly staff! We got there after the dining room closed, so we placed our order to go.

The food was great! I had the roasted pork and sweet plantains. Finished off with flan that was also very good.

Glad we found El Pilon Sabor Boricua!
