I was there on friday 11/21 – I ordered the $12 veggie burger and the server charged me $20. When I pointed out the mistake on my credit card transaction, he verbally abused me. A little while later I walked up to the bar to order a drink, the same server was at the bar unfortunately, so I ordered from him anyway. He was once again very rude. I brought up that he had overcharged me earlier – so he yelled “FINE! I’give you a refund right now!” and he began to angrily press button on his gadget. It was obvious that he was pretending – and he was. Bizarre behaviour from him. Also, when he was about to hand me the drink, he took it back, then aggressively shoved more ice into it with his bare hand, while looking at me as though he wanted me dead. I do not need any apology, but I do need my $8 back please. I will not be overcharged and treated like garbage.

Friendly and efficient waiters. Nice place to have a drink and to hangout with friends. I’m so bummed about the food… They used to have tasty food. Even for brunch, they used to be one of my favorite place in DC! I loved their amazing skillet (mainly the Hobo). But now their food is average and greasy.

People love the chicken sandwich, has cumin strangely. I think it needs seasoning salt. But anyway the reason you come is the party. The second floor from about 11:30 until close is awesome on Friday and Saturday nights. First floor a regular bar. Second floor full of dancing.

Had the breakfast burrito here and it was really good. The tater tots were very crunchy just the way I like it. The waitress had cool glasses.

WARNING – WAS REFUSED ENTRY FOR BEING GAY, STAFF ARE HOMOPHOBIC, – Had an uncharacteristically awful and blatantly homophobic experience with staff at wonderland last night. A group of six of us were at the front of the line on a Saturday night. My girlfriend and I were holding hands. The bouncer asked “Are you lesbians?” (weird thing to ask but we assumed good intent and said,) “yes!” The conversation stopped, we thought that was the end of it, and we continued to wait in line, which all of a sudden stopped moving, even as dozens of people left. We asked if we could come in and he said no and then immediately said, “Are you ALL gay?” At this point, the questioning felt targeted. He continued questioning each member of our group asking if they were gay or not. “Are you SURE you’re not gay?” He would not let it go. As his questioning continued, it was very clear he was refusing us entry. After minutes of him probing, we left the line, deciding not to be a patron of an establishment that was clearly discriminatory. Cannot emphasize enough how this bouncer instigated this line of questioning and repeatedly interrogated us for minutes. We had been coming to Wonderland for years and had always found it welcoming, accepting, and fun. But after what happened, we will not be back, and would encourage other queer people to think twice before going there. We’ve reached out to Wonderland and hope to receive a response for this uncharacteristically egregious incident.

Vegan friendly food options, bean burger is my favorite with sweet potato fries! Been a favorite spot since 2016 but recently went back for music… great venue for meeting with friends during the week or hitting brunch on the weekend.

This is the perfect example of a neighborhood bar. Genuine, unpretentious, without the typical $12 cocktails, and with a great food menu and solid beer choices, with the Bell’s Two Hearted IPA on tap. I suggest the chicken tenders and… the grilled ham and cheese (in pic) . A place that you’ll never forget. A truly must in Columbia Heights.

I’d not recommend it for brunch, to be honest. The food was meh tasting and too greasy. The ingredients were cheap but the prices were not. They kept getting our order wrong, unfortunately. They brought us someone else’s order four times. One of the waiters was rude and made snarky comments. A 20% gratuity was included for a group of 4, despite all of the above.

I’ve been there at night and had a good time then though. It’s much better suited as a bar only than as a bar-restaurant.

Food was typical bar finger food. Service was excellent and the price was great. I’ll come again for sure.

Performed tonight at the stand up comedy night organized by Underground Comedy DC. Great spot, fantastic vibes. Don’t take too long in the bathroom reading all of the amazing graffiti. Great beers on tap and wonderful staff. Get lost here and order a plate of fries.
