I have been going to Sogo with my family for my entire life (starting back when it was Banzai). Any time I come home to visit my parents, my only request is that we go out to dinner at Sogo for one of the nights that I’m there.

I have had countless birthdays, holidays, nights with friends, and more at Sogo, and everything is always great! (Food, atmosphere, staff, chefs, etc.)

I have been to many teppanyaki/hibachi restaurants all over, and Sogo is by far my favorite. Thank you for all the years of great food and great memories!

We’ve always enjoyed coming here. Food and service is always extremely good. The guy yesterday forgot half my order and my entire parties order of fried rice. He did fix both issues after we notified him, though. Valet parking was compulsory and they didn’t seem to have cleaned out the parking lot a week after a recent storm, but it was only a minor inconvenience. Not every place will get a five star review every time we go, but Sogo is still one of our favorites.

Food was good, atmosphere was nice. Service was not great. Our waiter visited once at the beginning of the meal then disappeared. We sat after eating for a good 20 minutes until I had to go find a staff member to request desert menus. By the time he returned , our group was tired of waiting and wanted to leave. Perhaps it was an off night.

We went here for a birthday outing and haven’t been to a hibachi spot in over 5 years due to relocation. Luckily, a co-worker told me about Sogo and we made a reservation for hibachi the same day of our visit. The staff were very accommodating with our two kids and their needs/allergies and were polite throughout the whole visit.

In regards to our server, he was engaging, made us laugh and gave the adults a generous amount of Japanese Sake!! The food was a lot and delicious. We chose to have a birthday ceremony for the four of us and it made us all smile. The ceremony was unique and we truly enjoyed our time. We hope to return in the near future.

It’s been about two years since we’ve dined at Sogo which has always been a favorite of ours.
We had noticed some changes and not for the better.
We were served soup and edamame before ordering which needed to be returned due to allergies which we weren’t given an opportunity to communicate to the server.
The quality and quantity of the meal itself was good except for requesting a rare filet that was served medium.
They still have the delicious sauces, however, they are now served in plastic rather than ceramic bowls. The plastic got very HOT from the Hibachi table. By the end of the meal the mustard sauce actually cooked and darkened from the heat. Not only can this possibly burn customers but I worry about hot plastic particles leeching into the sauce. Yuk.
When settling the bill we were presented with 2 totals one for cash, one for credit card. We paid with a debit card (essentially cash as the restaurant does not get charged a fee from the bank)
Without a word, we were charged the higher credit price. The worst part was being told to go to the front desk to resolve and wait for a manager. After being handed off from one employee to another the manager informed us that their system automatically charges the higher price despite the fact it was a debit card. Not even an apology. In my opinion, this warrants consumer protection. I will write a letter of complaint to the appropriate government agencies.
I informed the manager that I was unhappy with his response and will write a review outlining our experience.
Sadly, we most likely will not return.

The best hibachi, no comparison to the quality of this meal to any other place!
Grab a drink at the bar before you get seated because the person taking orders for drinks at the table is spread very thin, and there’s usually a wait.
Pair your meal with some cloudy sake or Japanese beer!

Was going to make reservations for dinner until my niece and several of her friends went. They noticed a roach on the grill area, that was quickly gotten rid of and then the area was treated with a little lemon juice and back cooking. Then someone else saw more roaches on the floor, at that point they got up and left the restaurant.

The waitress was friendly; however, it took 25 minutes to get our drinks from the bar. She also never asked if we wanted water until half of our meal was cooked/served and was nowhere to be found to ask before that. My soup had so much seaweed in it that it couldn’t be eaten (others in our party barely had anything in theirs) and the soup itself tasted like dirty dishwater. Two people in our party had undercooked chicken and and one person had undercooked shrimp, but the chef was already gone by the time we tried it. He forgot the scallops on one order; then had to go back to the kitchen to get it to cook after everything else was served. The side order of rice had raw vegetables mixed in it that never cooked through; also barely any sauce on it as it was served practically white and not fried at all. Considering all 6 of us ordered it as an extra upcharge, $30 was a lot for half cooked fried rice. Overall, the food had no flavor, we asked for extra garlic, but I don’t think he added any at all. Even the mustard sauce had no “kick” and tasted watered down. We haven’t been here in several years and I don’t think we’ll come back.

The customer service was remarkable. My fiance and I showed up a little bit early for his birthday to have some appetizers by the bar together. The bartender was very attentive, and caring, and gave great recommendations from the appetizer menu appetizer menu.

I also had a table of 10 for hibachi, and a reservation for 8 PM.. They usually do not sit that many people until everybody is there because it fills the table. The hostess, the bartender, the waiters, and the manager went above and beyond to accommodate us because everyone was late and even took family photos of us after dinner.
