I rolled into Jeff City today for business, running on empty—hadn’t eaten all day. I hit “best restaurant/bar near me” and BAM! Big Whiskey’s pops up just two miles away. Pictures looked legit, so I pointed the wagon in that direction.
The place is tucked inside an old warehouse factory that’s been fully rehabbed but still rocking its original character. Inside and out, it’s sharp—clean, warm, and welcoming, with that perfect blend of history and modern vibe.
I grabbed a seat at the bar where Kendra, the bartender, greeted me right away. She introduced herself, walked me through the happy hour deals, and knew the menu like she wrote it. I told her I was craving a burger and asked what her go-to was. Without hesitation, she pointed me to the Honey Stung.
Let me tell you about this bad boy.

Convenient location on the outskirts of downtown JC & a good sized parking lot. In late Sept, it was perfect weather for patio seating with a gentle afternoon breeze. Service was friendly and pretty quick. Food was tasty & arrived hot. I enjoyed my cheeseburger and fries while my friend ordered a shrimp dish with which she was very pleased. Drinks were cold and delicious. Big Whiskey’s in Jeff City was a nice spot to have lunch & enjoy happy hour.

My wife said her steak was very good and all the food came out hot and correct! My son raved about the hot wings saying they were pretty good a nine out of 10! I had a burger I would say it was just an average burger nothing to ride home about the atmosphere was nice and the staff was attentive and friendly!

Three of us arrived from out-of-town, we had no reservation, but we were able to be seated quite quickly, and during dinner, too. Staff was friendly, our waiter offered us suggestions, which was helpful. Food arrived quickly and fresh, the drinks were delightful. A sports bar is not my preferred scene, but overall it was a great experience.

Stopped here passing through Jefferson City and the food was delicious! We ordered online and ate it in the car. Going inside to get our order, this place has a lot of history, it would be fun to dine in here. If you like history like I do, they have the history of the building in framed snippets in its history. There looked like there was a gift shop too, but it was closed when I was there on Sunday afternoon. It was my girlfriend and I along with her 2 kids and no one complained and everyone ate their food; the food was really good. Their menu has a lot of different options and should appeal to a wide range of people. I’d go back and would like to dine in next time.

Really enjoyed this place. It was a little busy when we went. But we were served promptly and food came out on point. Try the pretzels and cheese appetizer. It was so good. Everything we had was really good. Maybe not the best we ever had. Ut really good none the less. I am excited to go back and try more items.

Great atmosphere. The ambiance is sports bar, but with a downtown upscale vibe.
TVs are scattered throughout the room and it looked like different games were playing.
The fried pickles are delicious!
Salads are ok. Nothing special, and a little small in proportion with other restaurants.
The margarita was pretty good!
The kids menu is fun and entertaining with the names of each meal.
The kids mac n cheese is penne noodles with cheese, so it is a little different in that aspect.
We ordered dessert, but took it home! We got the brownie skillet with ice cream on the side. All we had to do was heat it up in the microwave.

We had a very pleasant dining experience at Big Whiskey’s in Jefferson City. Our waiter was also a bar tender. He did a wonderful job of timing our appetizers then the meal. He made sure we always had our drinks refilled if needed. Our appetizer was delicious, the prezels with cheese. I ordered a Strawberry Daiquiri and it was really good. I ordered the BBQ honey chicken breast meal with mash potatoes and steamed broccoli which was very tasty. My husband had the Buffalo chicken sandwich and fries which he stated was delicious. All in all it was a very positive experience.

Speaking for my entire crew: everything was good and only one meal had chicken that was a bit dry. Definitely worth going again. We drove 86 miles and it’s worth it.

I absolutely love this place. I went there by myself one time and now I take my whole family there every time I get a chance. Honestly the prices are great because everything that I order that I think is expensive at first, turns out to be worth every penny. I’m a guy that likes to have a regular dish but the food is so delicious every time I go that it makes me want to try something else. Which they have a great variety of dishes it’s difficult to pick. When you know your food is as amazing as the food is here, you tend to try and make it back as soon as you can and it’s been 5 months since the first time I ate there and I’ve been back 2 or 3 times a week since. I live 30 minutes from there too so you know it has to be good if I’m doin that. I can talk about the wings all day but the atmosphere is great as well. Nice, clean, with an outside patio for nice days and you won’t ever miss a game you want to watch because they have TVz everywhere. With different games on all the time. Of course I only go during lunch and dinner hours but I bet the bar is poppin in the evenings. So if your traveling through you should absolutely stop at Jefferson Cities Big Whiskeys.
