Absolutely amazing-authentic taste!!
Hundred percent 10 out of 10 would recommend this wonderful restaurant.
I came here on Sunday morning during the dodgers games and I was able to see the game too!
As for the food now – I ordered carne asada with cheese enchilada which came to be awesome. Best enchiladas I have ever tried. Melting in my mouth, satiating my craving desire for a lot of cheese.
The atmosphere is like at your grandma’s house. The longer you stay, the more you appreciate it. Icons, crosses are in one of the rooms of the restaurant serving as a design feature. Low ceilings which makes it even cozier.
Beautiful spot, definitely recommend
She made the patio happen while we waited… sort of, she cleared some tables then asked me if we wanted the tables pushed together. Yes, we want the tables pushed together! Why would someone call to make a birthday reservation if we were just going to be seated as the tables are pre set all apart?
As we sat we got to breathe in the smell of cleaning fluid that they use to clean the tables with. We got to wait a long time for them to take our order. Amazingly, after ordering, the food arrived quicker than I expected… except that they served my 85 year old Mexican mother two burnt tacos. My 84 year old father who had ordered a Torta de Birria was seved Birria Tacos. My mother sent her order back and they did fix it. But when my father wanted his order corrected the waitress insisted my father ordered tacos even though I’m certain he didn’t. We looked at your menu in advance. He planned to and I heard him order the Torta. Correct your mistake. He acquiesced because he did not want to wait and had at least been served birria. I was livid, this is not how you treat the elderly. The man who paid our bill did not get what he ordered!
We never were given or asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. My niece and I were given free deserts and they sang to us for our birthday. So there was at least that. But frankly by that point it was hard to recover from so many fails at basic service expectations.
We gave our waitress a more than generous tip which in my opinion she did not earn.
Parking was also its own issue. As I had arrived a worker walked behind my car and stood there to make a phone call while my engine was running and while my tail lights were on keeping me from finishing my parking job. When we were leaving a worker pushed his mop bucket into the driveway blocking another patron from leaving. The woman in her SUV waited patiently until she had to honk to get him to clear the way for her to leave. And a rude patron parked so as to take up two parking spots instead of one in what is already a small parking lot.
If you are 1-3 people looking for some cheap and fast food, this place could work for you. If you are asking for good service with a good vibe environment, don’t be fooled by their charming decor, or its religious oriented interior. The servers here clearly pick and choose who they want to treat well. And that night we were not it. Its not ethical to expect good money for such blatantly bad service.
I had seen bad reviews for this place written here so I had visited just by myself a few weeks prior to check it out. And I did have a good experience then. (But it was just me and it was during non peak hours.) So I trusted them enough for my second visit to give me and my niece a positive birthday experience. But I regret that decision wholeheartedly. I’m sorry I put my family through this. If I had not toted my whole family with me I would have left at the first signs of poor service. I DO NOT describe this place as family-friendly.
We are locals. We were looking to find a family spot we could frequent ever since a place nearby Cafe Cancun closed. We came that night wanting to check it out to possibly become frequent customers. Thanks for letting us know that isn’t called for. I chose you over El Torito because I wanted to support a smaller business, but in this case that choice served you better than me or my family.
First stop landing LAX is to have Mexican food. This place is airy, comfortable with cute decorations.
Food is yum!! Everyone happy with their plates. Kids play outside after meal.
