I have not been here since I was a kid for the most part pre moved location that its currently at. Staff were nice but not nearly attentive enough. Only came by when bringing food and we had to over load her with refills as we never knew when she would come by again. Place was clean as were the restrooms so that was a good thing to mention. The food was just OK. Was warm and seemed to he made well but the flavors weren’t there for me. The Choriqueso was subpar and had too many veggies in it. Tomatoes I think. My chimichanga was bland and really had no depth. Presentation was good and food was hot for the good part. Margarita was done well good flavor and not too sweet or too strong just right. I feel if you want a good drink with chips and salsa this is it. Food I would try other venues cause this was not worth the price and time in my honest opinion.

Went on a Saturday at 12pm and I was surprised by the music selection. No complaints here; they were playing mid-00s club rap (Yin Yang Twins). They said they change it up on weekends for the crowd they get. Food was flavorful, but not too overseasoned. I ordered a beer, but everyone around me had margaritas; I guess I missed the memo. It’ll be well received next time I go back. The bartenders had a pleasant, joking, & good vibe about them.

Came to this restaurant about 15 years ago and decided to go again because I was in the area. This place hasn’t changed AT ALL. Same decor, same terrible food and same terrible service. The hostess was awful. Took us to our table and thew the old, outdated and sticky menu on the table. This area has evolved so much and it has so many different choices of food, shopping and great places to live. This tired and outdated restaurant has not caught up. It says a lot about themselves. Skip this restaurant and find another place to spend your hard earned money.

As for tacos, theyre not the best, but they aint the worse. Service is slow, which is always offset by good food. They’ll do if you cant get to Salt Lake City, Yorkville or Hilton Head.

A Mexican Restaurant that is a staple in Atlanta. Highly recommended- great service and food quality. The menu is well designed with many options and good prices. If you’re anywhere on Roswell Rd hold out for this spot.
They just redesigned the restaurant. Outdoor seating and cool dining area. Comfortable for a large group or stop in for quick lunch or dinner

As a true Sandy Springs dining institution for 45 years (2025), El Azteca offers everything you want from a local restaurant: a welcoming atmosphere, large dining space, a great patio, and strong margaritas!
Anyone writing negative food reviews of El Azteca clearly has never been to a restaurant other than Chili’s or Applebee’s in the last 20 years, because had they dined more often outside their bucket-o-food choices, they’d have tons of respect for the quality and consistency of El Azteca’s dining experience.
Our family often starts weekend dinner conversations with “should we get El Azteca or something else?” as it should be the cornerstone for all family casual dining decisions.
Hot tip (literally): always ask for the queso with jalapeno!

Rudy is always our server and we always request him! He is friendly, accommodating, and gets it right the first time. The food is awesome, always delicious. My husband and I eat here once a week.

Went here with the grown kids and the inlaws. The inlaws informed us all that the restaurant had been the 50+ years. True or not? Without further research, who knows. But the place showed some signs of age but was overall clean and in good shape. The food was good for a standard restaurant so don’t expect the moon but it ain’t the bottom of the ocean either.

Wow. This place has fallen. I used to live up the street from. This location and I’d go often. It has fallen, and the parking lot was definitely an indicator of that. Going on a Saturday night and it looked like a ghost town. The actual restaurant is big, and when you don’t have many people in here, it looks bad. The Azteca dip was an embarrassment. Supposed to be a collection of steak, chicken and shrimp over queso. It honestly looked like they threw one piece of each into a food processor and blended it, then pour a spoon full of cheese over it in a shallow, shallow bowl. The burrito was big, but disappointing. The salsa tasted like spicy ketchup. Terrible.

No question the very best margaritas in this city! Freshly squeezed lime juice, agave and an excellent tequila selection all made to order! This Atlanta landmark stand the test of time with homemade salsas and family recipes with all fresh ingredients. I challenge anybody to find better margaritas and Mexican food in Atlanta with service that has heart. No wonder they’ve been around 45 years and counting. Solid.
