I Got Banned for Something I Never Said You Decide If This Makes Sense!

Ive been to The 19th Hole a couple times. This place looks great and the concept is cool, and the first couple times I went there i enjoyed my time. But the last time I went was the worst experience I’ve ever had at any establishment in Fort Wayne.

The first time I went, my friend made a reservation and we were told we’d receive an entrance code beforehand. We never did. We ended up having to track someone down to call inside and let us in. We thought it was just a glitch or something.

The second time, I made the reservation myself and was again told I’d receive an entrance code. Once again, nothing came through, and we had to find someone to let us in. This time I was with a friend from Brazil and his brother who was visiting from Brazil. Not only did we not receive the code, but they refused to let his brother in because he wasn’t wearing a collared shirt. We explained he was visiting from out of the country and didn’t bring one, but they said the dress code was strict and clearly stated online.

I respected that and called my wife to bring one of my collared shirts for him to wear so he could get in. She did, and we were finally allowed inside. Once inside, I noticed at least one patron who was not wearing a collared shirt. He was a white man. Found that a little weird considering we were just refused entrance for not wearing one but we didn’t make a deal about it.

They then charged me $50 for “missing” my reservation, even though we were outside on time and couldn’t get in due to not receiving the door code. The charge was eventually refunded. We stayed, had a fine time, and left without any issues.

The next time I tried to return, I was told I was banned. The reason given was that I had accused them of being racist during my previous visit. I was shocked. I asked what exactly I had said, and a server I recognized could not name a single comment. He only repeated that I had made “a couple comments.” When I asked which comments, he couldn’t answer.

While I was trying to understand what I supposedly said, a security guard became unnecessarily aggressive and said it didn’t matter what I said because it’s a private establishment and they don’t need a reason to refuse service. He told me to leave or be forcibly removed. I hadn’t even refused to leave, I was simply asking for clarification. I was told to take it up with the owner, so I left.

I immediately contacted the friends who were with me that night to make sure I wasn’t missing something. They were just as confused and upset as I was. They also confirmed I had been respectful and that nothing inappropriate or confrontational happened.

After that, I decided to go to another establishment in the same building, Mitchell’s, and was told I was banned there as well. I was informed I was banned from every establishment in the building, all based on the claim that I accused them of racism, which I did not.

I didn’t argue, cause a disturbance, get physical, disrespect staff, or skip out on a bill. Nothing occurred that would reasonably justify a ban, let alone a building-wide ban.

I have never in my life been treated this way or refused service for something I never said. Prior to this, I didn’t believe this establishment was racist. After this experience, and being treated like that, it’s difficult not to question it. Even if they truly believed I said something, banning someone from multiple establishments over vague, unverified comments that were not threatening or disruptive feels excessive and unprofessional.

Even if I were allowed back, I would never return. I hope others read this and decide for themselves whether this is a place they want to support.

The whole place has so much to offer besides just what you’d think for a “normal” sports bar. Besides that it’s huge and has great service and food they have arcade, ax throwing, two amazing golf simulators and so much more. Service in all the bays. Great place to do something unique with your friends or even just a night out with your person! Highly recommend and don’t forget to ask about the speakeasy

Went twice on Saturday. First in afternoon to watch football. Bartender was great about getting our game on. Ton of TVs with audio on for IU. Fair beer selection. Went later at night to catch end of late game. Was a nightclub with a cover then. Not for me but looked popular.

On the evening in question (10/26/25), I visited Mitchell’s Bar in Fort Wayne, Indiana, accompanied by two friends and my sister. Upon entering, we paid the required cover charge and enjoyed ourselves peacefully.

At one point, the strap of my purse broke, and I briefly exited the establishment to secure it safely in my vehicle. When I attempted to re-enter shortly thereafter, I was abruptly denied entry and forcibly removed from the premises by security staff.

At no point did I engage in any physical confrontation or behave in a disruptive manner. When the security guard requested my identification, I immediately attempted to comply. However, before I could hand it over, the guard forcefully grabbed my arm and attempted to take the ID directly from my wallet. Rather than communicating with me or de-escalating the situation, the guard used unnecessary and excessive force.

As I attempted to retrieve my identification, the guard snatched it from me and dragged me along the ground while ejecting me from the building. I was not given an opportunity to speak, explain myself, or be treated with basic respect. The incident was handled with aggression and a complete lack of professionalism.

Afterward, the manager falsely claimed that I had struck a member of security—a statement that is entirely untrue. When I requested that law enforcement review the security footage, the establishment refused to release the video evidence.

It is also relevant to note that Mitchell’s Bar has a reputation within the Fort Wayne community for discriminatory treatment toward Black patrons and other people of color. Numerous individuals have publicly shared similar experiences involving unfair treatment, excessive force, and biased conduct by both security staff and management. My experience, unfortunately, appears consistent with these prior reports and raises serious concerns about racial profiling and discrimination occurring within this establishment.

This situation was mishandled from start to finish. I was treated with hostility and physical aggression despite posing no threat. The establishment failed in its duty to ensure the safety and fair treatment of all customers and instead acted in a way that caused me fear, physical distress, and emotional harm.

I am submitting this statement as a truthful and accurate account of the events that occurred, as well as to document my concerns regarding the discriminatory and violent practices at Mitchell’s Bar.

Made reservations for 7 for simulator for birthday. Got there at 630 was told we could have a table because it would not be ready till 7. Ordered food and drinks. It’s now 7. We check they are cleaning our booth. 715 we are told they are still waiting. Long story short. Well they gave our booth away to another group that checked in at 7 instead of us who were at a table waiting like we were told to and we didn’t get in there till after 730 after many times of us having to go ask. Food came out cold and 15 minutes apart from others in our group. I remembered why we hadn’t been there in years in the first 30 minutes I was there.

Not bad. We’ve been on the search for a family friendly place to sit, drink a beer and watch some TVs.

The food and the service was great. I do like that there are things to do outside the restaurant area.

However, the family area is DARK. Like “here, go sit in this dark corner”. More lights are necessary for comfort in a family environment.

Also, back there, there is no phone signal. According to our server, there used to be WiFi but it “hasn’t been working for a while” so you need to be ready to keep your face out of your phone.

Update 10/22/23

WiFi is now working, they have installed new lights in the family area so it is much better and not dark anymore.

They have a new Hulk statue that’s pretty awesome that’s out near the games… and their Halloween decorating is absolutely great!

We got a pizza and a custom burger. Both were very good. Good bar selection and fair pricing. It was pretty loud at times and difficult to hear conversation. Overall good place to have a fun times.
