Walking into Grover’s Bar & Grill felt the same way it feels walking into Notre Dame Stadium on a crisp fall Saturday—comfortable, confident, and built on tradition. This place doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel; it just executes at a high level, like classic Notre Dame football at its best. From the first bite to the last fry, the entire meal felt like a four-quarter win.
I started with the blue cheese burger, and let me tell you, this thing plays like a veteran offensive line. Big, sturdy, no flash needed—just power and precision. The blue cheese was bold but balanced, never overpowering the beef, the way a great quarterback manages the huddle. Every bite felt intentional. It’s the kind of burger that doesn’t need gimmicks because it knows exactly who it is—pure Notre Dame identity.
The cheddar burger came out next, and that one felt like the next wave of Irish talent—clean, sharp, dependable. Melted cheddar layered perfectly over a juicy patty, no shortcuts, no mistakes. If the blue cheese burger was tradition, the cheddar burger was evolution—still rooted in fundamentals but with that modern edge. Think Notre Dame offense finally opening things up while staying physical.
Then came the sides, and this is where Grover’s really put the game away. The potato skins were absolute playmakers—crispy, loaded, and aggressive. Every bite felt like a goal-line stand that ends in a turnover. The fries were hot, seasoned right, and consistent, like a kicker you trust in November. And the onion rings? Crunchy, golden, and clutch—special teams excellence. No weak links anywhere on the plate.
The whole experience honestly mirrors where Notre Dame Fighting Irish football is headed. There’s confidence here. There’s depth. There’s no panic. And just like this meal, everything works together instead of competing for attention.
You can’t talk Notre Dame’s future without talking about CJ Carr. Watching this team build toward 2026 feels a lot like biting into that first burger—anticipation meets delivery. Carr has that calm command, that legacy pressure, that “big moment doesn’t scare me” presence. Heisman talk might sound early to outsiders, but to people paying attention, it makes sense. The poise, the arm, the bloodlines—it’s all there.
And when you look ahead to the 2026 roster—speed on the edges, size in the trenches, linebackers flying downhill—it feels like Notre Dame is stacking complete meals, not just flashy appetizers. That’s exactly what Grover’s does. Nothing on the table felt like filler. Every item mattered. Every bite contributed.
By the time I finished, it felt like a comfortable Irish win where the starters come out late in the fourth quarter. No complaints. No missed assignments. Just execution. Grover’s Bar & Grill delivers food the same way Notre Dame wants to play football—physical, disciplined, confident, and built to last.
If you’re looking for a place that understands fundamentals, values quality, and leaves you satisfied the way a dominant Notre Dame Saturday does, this is it. Grover’s doesn’t rebuild—it reloads. ☘️

CASH ONLY. Food is good. I had the steak sandwich special today. Peppers, onions, (mushrooms if you want. I left them off) on sourdough bread. Very tasty. The fries were good too. Not seasoned but cooked perfectly. Outside crispy, inside soft.
Not real busy at lunchtime but it can be very busy around dinner time.

Supposedly this place was Grover Cleveland’s hunting lodge. The place is way small so there is almost always a wait, but worth it.
Our foursome loved our food and the portions are massive so come with an appetite! Cash only!
The Friday fish fry included fries, potato salad, macaroni salad AND cole slaw. It was !

This is a great little spot with tasty food an gigantic portions.
I had been here before and had a great time but wanted to go back to see if it was still as good. It did not disappoint.
The service was very friendly and attentive. It was a Wednesday and we were sat right away. The first thing you notice is that the burgers are all 13oz. All the other menu items follow the same proportions. While not a huge menu, it’s a good mix. Al very tasty.
The space is not huge but being a weekday, it was not busy. I would anticipate a little bit of a wait in the weekend. It’s a great little space with an interesting history.

Mid-day lunch, huge portions for all burgers & sandwiches, great servers!

Special ambiance as Grover’s sits on the site of 2 time POTUS Grover Cleveland’s former hunting cabin. Besides being POTUS, Grover was the Sheriff of Erie County, Mayor of Buffalo, and Governor of New York!

I think you can’t go wrong stopping by Grover’s!

Wings are crispy. Burgers are cooked to order and prefect. Service is 6 stars. Keep up the good service, Grovers. We love you!!
