This is a great spot to stop by for a delicious breakfast. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted warmly and offered a seat. The waitress was attentive and provided excellent customer service. Despite juggling multiple tables, she did an impressive job ensuring everyone was cared for.

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with several locals adding charm. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which were fantastic—perfectly seasoned and with no shrimp tails, making it easy to enjoy every bite. Before I left, the waitress even offered me a to-go coffee, a thoughtful touch I appreciated.

I would definitely return!

This is my first visit and I am very satisfied. There wasn’t much of a wait to be seated. The server was very pleasant and the food was quick and tasty . I ordered country fried steak and eggs with a side Cornbeef hash. I definitely recommend this spot especially if you’re looking for some southern comfort dishes.

Food was standard. Nothing special. Service was decent. Gratuity was included on a bill for 2 people.

Decent place. The service was ok as well. The place had a decent crowd in it. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated at all either. When the food came out it was hot but could of had some more seasoning. Our server was very nice also kept checking on the table. They need to have someone cleaning in between customers because it made the place look a little dirty. That was really my only 2 downs about the place. Decent place but room for improvement.

The D ‘egg Diner is located in the heart of Norfolk. I think the Main St. Garage is one of the closer garages for parking. I was in Norfolk for a week for some new job trainings, so I decided to try some local places during my lunch breaks. My visit here was on September 24, 2024.

When looking for places to try out, I wanted to seek out places where I could get something without spiking my glucose levels as I have been in diabetic remission for over a year. When I came in, a host was at the door and I asked for a menu, as I would have the food to-go instead of dining in. After taking some time to review the menu and options, I decided to go with an omelet with four ingredients. I went with pepper jack cheese, bacon, green peppers and onions with salsa as the side and a biscuit for the bread item.

After about 10 minutes or so, the food was ready. I did make the payment in cash. There is an additional 3% service fee if you use a credit or debit card. I then headed back to the building where the training I was attending was located. There’s a break room there where I was able to have lunch.

Once I got back to the break room, it was time to indulge in a lunch. Everything was still hot when I got there too. The food was very good and was cooked the right way as well. It was a filling meal.

Overall, my experience here with the staff and food were very good. If I have to come back over to Norfolk in the future for any trainings, I would stop back in here again. This place is worth checking out.

We were in Norfolk for a wedding and went there twice for breakfast. The food and waitress, Aleya, were GREAT!! On the first day she made sure my husband’s coffee was full at all times. The pumpkin pancakes were soooo good. On the second day, she saw we were back and brought him a larger cup. Aleya is a very attentive and friendly waitress. If we are ever back in Norfolk, we will definitely be back!!

Food was great — this is a good spot to grab a filling classic breakfast. I would advise against getting iced coffee specifically though — we ordered iced coffee with syrup, iced coffee is typically $4 so we figured maybe a dollar extra for syrup. The total was $8 instead, which was a whole $4 upcharge simply for syrup. We asked and were told that’s just how it’s priced and they couldn’t do anything about it. However, we did not see this on the menu (otherwise we couldn’t have ordered it).

Your average diner fare. Decent menu. Friendly service. Somewhat tasty food. My sausage was on the cool side, probably frozen and reheated when ordered. Apparently they’ve been there for 20yrs now. I may go back, but with several options in the area, I may not.

D’egg is a consistent favorite breakfast experience in the 757 that deserves its recognition as a local treasure. This is the third location I’ve personally tried and have not been disappointed! Nothing starts a day off right like coffee and a mimosa. Food is always flavorful. Be sure and stop by.

They have done a lot to this place, and I love every bit of the facelift. This makes it fit-in to the aesthetics of the new downtown Norfolk. The location is perfectly nestled between two of the most decorated hotels in Norfolk’s downtown area (Hilton’s The Main and Downtown Marriott). The service here is second to none, and the food was delightful. I took my Goddaughter here for a birthday breakfast, and she couldn’t stop commenting on how scrumptious her food was. I will be back more sooner than later.
