Corks & Coffees is a little coffee shop and wine bar tucked just inside June Cleavers Gift Shop at 208 W Main on the Santa Fe Trail in Historic downtown, Council Grove, Kansas. Handcrafted coffees brewed with freshly roasted coffee beans from Broadway Roasting Company, Italian & cream sodas and or a glass from the specially curated wine selection can be enjoyed with a delicious baked item, a pastry, a Grab to Go plate or a snack. I’ve had a few different things here including the tuna sandwich on a crescent, a lemon-lavender italian soda, and a caramal mocha and they were all delicious!
It’s also perfect to order for kids going to dance down the street! Perfect portions for a good healthy snack.

I am so sorry! I would like to rave about local place… but I cannot. Maybe it was unlucky day. There was a group of three before me. It took the girl behind the counter 35 minutes to take their orders and prepare drinks. She was visibly overwhelmed – new or did not feel well. Or both. The woman in the back watched her but did not offer help. Another woman show up to use the register. She didn’t ask the girl if she needs help, or is she OK. Nada. She took care of her business behind the register and left without any word to me and guests behind me, not even “hi” or eye contact. Finally, I was able to order my latte. 10 minutes later I got coffee with warm milk. The milk was not steamed properly.
Did this sad girl even know how to make latte? Why the rest of the staff gave her such a cold shoulder? Or ignored the guests? Some “hi”, or “I am sorry for the wait” would be nice.

Looking for a place to eat on Monday in small towns in Kansas can be a real chore. Most local places are closed on Mondays. As I pulled in to Council Grove I had little hope I would find something to eat. Thankfully, I found myself more than pleasantly surprised to find Corks & Coffee. Not only are they open on Monday, they served up a killer sandwich and a fantastic latte. Not only that, the ladies working the counter were pleasant and extremely friendly. Couldn’t recommend more.

We wanted to thank the staff and owners at Corks & Coffee for inviting us into their shop, which was closed and conducting a training session. We were two touring cyclists sitting outside their door and in dire need of a pick me up when someone came out and asked us in. Everyone here went the extra mile to make our day.
