The first course was mindblowing (I recommend the lobster hush puppies and the elk slider). The Texas Red Chili was great, but the steaks stole the show! Cooked to perfection, and melted in the mouth. The asparagus, mashed potatoes and truffle Mac and cheese on the side were perfect. And the homemade vanilla ice cream and ancho chile chocolate cake were also extremely delicious!
The hospitality is what you would expect: Southern and warm. Our waiter, Jeremy, was the best and he made us feel at home! Everyone on staff was so kind and made this dinner unforgettable. We’ll be coming back!
Once inside it is very masculine and more like a hunting lodge.
The inside dining room is less smoky although it is quieter in the front where the bar is.
Welcoming staff from the moment we walked in. 3 Managers came by to say hi and introduce themselves.
Great, though expensive wine list. We had the Senegal Cab.
A very interesting, game heavy, menu.
We started with the Fettine Trio. A “Charcuterie board” of Duck/Rabbit/Rattlesnake sausage – Black Buck/Pork Belly – Texas Wild Boar. Super thinly sliced. You couldn’t really appreciate the flavors.
For 1st course we tried: the Kangaroo Nachos, Interesting but chewy.
The Blue Corn-Lobster Hush puppies that were soft and pillowy but no Lobster flavor.
The Fries Oysters were excellent as were the sticky sweet Wild Boar Ribs. I could eat a bowl of those.
For Main course we had the Garlic stuffed Beef Tenderloin which was perfectly Medium and super tender and moist.
The Rabbit Ravioli was flavorless with a light broth. Nothing exceptional as expected. The dish could have benefited from a nice reduction instead of the broth and actual pieces of Rabbit stuffing rather than the ragout.
The Roasted TX mushrooms side was an excellent dish and great side to the Tenderloin.
We finished with a great Ancho Chile decadent soft Chocolate Cake with a lovely Vanilla Ice Cream.
A great night overall. Thanks for the great service Laura. We’ll be back.
The menu focuses on bold flavors and high quality ingredients, with a Western-inspired approach that sets it apart from typical steakhouse fare. Dishes are thoughtfully prepared and full of character, and you can tell a lot of care goes into both flavor and presentation. The portions are satisfying without being excessive, and everything feels intentional rather than overdone.
Service is attentive and knowledgeable, with staff who are happy to explain the menu or make recommendations without hovering. The pacing of the meal feels comfortable, allowing you to enjoy each course without feeling rushed.
Overall, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro delivers a memorable experience that reflects the personality of Fort Worth while offering excellent food and service. It is a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy a high quality meal in a setting that feels both distinctive and welcoming.
We decided to jump on the bar, to make the process easier, and thankfully to the bartender, we got not only incredible food but outstanding service as well.
Extra thankfully for equal dividing every dish between our company of 4.
What for the food: you can’t find another place ever near that served not only unique but perfectly cooked and mixed dishes. It was that mouthwatering, that I even forgot to take the photos
Wild boar, snake, elk. What else do you need for the food orgasm?!
AWESOME FOOD
TEXAS VIBE
This is an upscale restaurant in a nicely relaxed setting definitely run smoothly by a sharp management team.
My wife and I dined here in June of 2025. We had a reservation at 6PM as we like to dine early and leave time for after-dinner cocktails.
We were greeted by the valet opening the door for us. Very nice. And then the nice hostess got us seated.
The decor is Texas/cowboy/ranch with similar vibe. Real nice.
Very quickly our server arrived and started serving us. He was one of the most enthusiastic servers we have ever met. Chatting to us to make us feel like home. Talking about the food on the menu and the special steaks they have. He had a great knowledge of wine and could recommend wines for our taste. Really a great experience on that facet alone.
The menu is incredible. It offers you choices you didn’t even know existed. And it all sounds sooooo delicious. The difficulty is to limit yourself.
The food was very amazing – really well made and seasoned. Very delicious.
The noise level at 6-8PM was low and increased to moderate-high as we were getting ready to leave shortly after 8PM.
Overall an exceptional Texas-vibe experience.
Definitely a must-do when in town.
Best part of this place and my time there was Bonny and Malik from behind the bar, literally the BEST!! These two rocked it out!!!
