They ask that you check your coat but if you decide not to, then they ask you not to put it in the back of your chair (so I put mine on the floor).
It’s not cheap by the way but the food was good. We ordered the French onion soup (cup) and the broth was on the lighter color but tasty.
We shared the steak frites. The very tender char-grilled skirt steak, came with truffle fries, baby rocket salad. lemon vinaigrette, crumbied bie cheese and chimichuri butter. The lemon vinaigrette was delicious.
No dessert as we wanted to go to a different place for that.
The interior is cozy and old-world, with rustic wood accents, vintage ski decor, and a lively, welcoming energy. The covered patio is one of the best spots in the village for people-watching, lunch, or après-ski drinks. Founded with strong Austrian roots, Pepi’s has been part of Vail since its early days and remains a favorite for its relaxed vibe, live music, and authentic alpine charm.
The service was very attentive and excellent along with the food being of good portions and taste. The presentation of food was excellent as well. Good dessert menu and drink menu.
It is odd that there’s so many French choices there but they’re well done. There is a seasonal menu mainly in the winter time of oddly not German dishes which they will cook tableside which is pretty cool but the video wouldn’t post here.
Highly recommend it.
The food was some of the best I’ve ever had—every bite felt high-quality and thoughtfully done. Service was perfect, and the owner was amazing, genuinely adding to the experience.
If you appreciate great food and a serious wine program with real value, Pepi’s is a must.
We were bar-hopping around Vail and somehow ended up at Baby’s Bar & Restaurant, right near Pepi’s Restaurant—and wow, what a disappointment.
I can confidently say the water outside tasted better than the drinks served here. Whatever was in those glasses had zero flavor and zero care put into it.
They hype up a “big pretzel,” but what comes out looks exactly like a Costco pretzel—nothing special, nothing fresh, nothing worth ordering at a bar in Vail.
To top it off, the waiter never once checked in. No “how’s everything?” No follow-up. No basic hospitality. We were basically invisible.
I genuinely don’t understand how this place has a 4.1-star rating. Based on our experience, it’s absolutely not deserved. There are so many better spots nearby—do yourself a favor and skip this one.
Definitely do not recommend.
The menu offers a nice variety, including some European specialties. I had the , which I enjoyed, and also tasted the Wiener and Jäger Schnitzels.
While the food was enjoyable, it was not cheap at all.
All in all, we had a lovely evening and a good dining experience.
The margarita was crisp and refreshing with just the right amount of lime and salt on the rim, while the draft beer was ice cold and served with a fresh orange slice—great choices for a sunny afternoon.
A special shoutout to Cherelle—it was such a pleasure meeting her! She made our visit extra enjoyable with her warm personality and great service.
If you’re in Vail, Pepi’s is definitely a must-stop for happy hour!
