It looks pretty great and it’s by far the most hyped BBQ in the Lexington area, and not in a bad way. How does it compare to Red State, assuming you’ve had it?

Fantastic barbecue, and that’s all that needs to really be said. There are three sauces available at every table which were great additions, and the pulled pork with two sides was excellent. In total it was only ~$13 for the plate, which is an incredible value for how good everything was.

Blue Door Smokehouse in Lexington absolutely lives up to the hype. The brisket was tender and smoky, the sides were on point, and the laid-back vibe makes it a perfect casual BBQ spot. Easily some of the best barbecue in town — I’ll definitely be back.

Keep in mind they only open til 3pm on weekdays and often brisket will run out. With that said beef brisket is the number one choice and they give you a nice health cut without hesitation. Baby back ribs is a good alternative.

This is by far the BBQ spot in Lexington & central KY!! The brisket and sausage are fantastic. They have great potato salad and their smoky ranch dressing is SO GOOD on their salads. All their BBQ is excellent, the prices are so reasonable, and the staff is so friendly. BlueDoor is a great local spot and one I frequent a couple times a month. Keep up the great work guys!!

Good food with better sauces but the lack of stock even at say 4/5pm deters me. Seems any time i’ve gone after 2-3pm lots of the meats always sold out to the point it feels like those in charge could just stock a bit more. I understand if they want it gone by the end of the day but i’d wager they could keep a bit more on hand and still sell out while making it more available. Barely ever bother going as its difficult for me to get there early enough with my schedule.

I got the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. The brisket was surprisingly only okay, pretty dry but not that bad. The sausage was average, not super flavorful. The potato salad had no seasoning at all, it was so bland and boring. The collared greens just tasted like straight vinegar and nothing else. Wish it was better considering all the great reviews.
