We came for a late lunch and were seated in the bar area at a booth with a nice large windows to enjoy the view. We took advantage of the lunch specials.
Our waiter/ bar keep, was very busy so not as attentively available but the service was still good. We ordered Boxtui cakes, clam chowder, fish. N chips, shepherds pie – and bread pudding. We weren’t wild about the boxtui cakes and wasabi sauce. The clam chowder was delicious with small pieces of celery and a tad of spice, it was warm and welcoming . I loved it! The fish and chips were good with flavor and the shepherds pie was beautiful and delicious. This was my first time tasking shepherds pie but it was beautifully presented in a small personalized hot dish, topped with a mashed potatoes in the center. It had a lot of flavor and was rich, the mashed potatoes balanced it perfectly.
The bread pudding- delicious! It was a generous portion served hot with ice cream and bourbon butter sauce.
Ambiance is nice in there. Its fun to look around at all the decorations and photos, and its warm low lighting which I really enjoyed. Despite it being busy I didnt feel overwhelmed in there.
Connor was our server and he was great! He was absolutely slammed but still had time to refill our drinks multiple times and check on us. He didnt even seem phased. Even though it was restaurant week, our food came out almost immediately and it was only an hour between us sitting down and leaving.
We ordered Irish Poutine off the regular menu, and then for the RW menu we got the clam chowder, reuben egg roll, corned beef, chicken pot pie, bread pudding, and cupcake. Overall, all of the food was good! My partner’s only con was that our food didnt come out piping hot (it was still warm, but wasnt i-need-to-blow-on-this hot). We think they likely were churning out batches of RW items to keep fast service that maybe led to food getting a little cooled off before reaching the table, which is understandable. For only $25 per person, we think this was a pretty good bang-for-buck meal. I preferred the chowder over the egg roll but whatever sauce that came with it was quite good. I didnt think I would like the bread pudding as a texture person but I was pleasantly surprised! The pot pie was pretty big for price imo and flavor was good (i personally like a lot of black pepper in mine, so I added a bit under the pastry), plus the little clover on top is adorable. The poutine was good, slightly too rich but thats what happens when youre eating a bunch of gravy lol. The fries were a perfect crisp. Its one of those places that isnt blow-your-mind, but its warm and comforting and an enjoyable experience. Its on our list to come back!
They have a membership offer that earns rewards. The birthday perk is especially nice.
Highly recommend for a triva date night or hanging out with friends.
The food and drinks were amazing!
