I’m not sure why this place gets a bad rap. They are just like any other Chinese restaurant in the city, pretty good food pretty good service. They don’t have the largest menu options that I’ve ever seen, but they’re pretty standard for your average Chinese buffet in the city. Every now and then the crawfish can be a little mushy or overcooked, but that’s probably my only complaint. You go here fairly often and I’ve never had a problem. The staff especially are super kind.

This afternoon we happened to be out in Gretna at lunchtime. As usual, I looked for somewhere we had not been. I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant and I’ve finally found it. This is a true hit. The food is very good, and actually the best I’ve had since moving to New Orleans. The service is what you expect, and the restrooms need a goog cleaning.

It is what it is.. The food is not bad at all. Everything I tried had a good flavor. The place was clean and smelled fine. It is an old building and you can see the wear from age. But the food to price is fine. If you are looking for a high end location this may not be for you. If you want some good food at a low price. Here is you spot.

My friends and I went here for lunch at around 12:30 pm on Sunday. The restaurant itself smelled horrible. We stuck around because it looked like customers were enjoying their food. Well we walked around to fix our plates of food. As we were walking around, I noticed this dish pictured here that was supposed to be baked salmon. More like food poisoning in a pan. Food was served on foam plates and we had to use plastic utensils. That should’ve been the first red flag. But as a group we were hopefully optimistic. This restaurant has no redeeming qualities. The environment as a whole smelled like rotten fish. The food was undercooked. The pizza tasted like cardboard with tomato sauce on it. We talked to some guy in a white shirt. I politely told him we didn’t like the food and that I honestly wouldn’t serve this poor quality food to my dog. The guy copped an attitude and still insisted we all had to pay. As someone who used to work in a buffet, I would be ashamed if the establishment I worked for sold food of this quality and then essentially forced customers to pay for something that might end up making themselves sick. I’m really surprised this place is still open. I’m even more shocked that the department of health hasn’t been called. This is beyond absurd that a table of four individuals had to pay $80 as a collective for food of this poor quality.

I regularly come to this restaurant. It’s in the neighborhood of where I live, so I’ve been here many times. Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at or about 8 PM I was seated and proceeded to get my food. When I came back, my drink was not there. I ate my food and was nearly finished when my drink finally arrived. The waitress never came back, not once to check on me, clear the table, or refill my drink. It was not a busy night, and I watched her ignore me while taking care of every table around me. I am an African-American man and I was the only person in there that looked like me. I took pictures of the plates they never removed. After I finish eating, I waited 15 minutes for her to come to my table so I can receive my check. She never came. I then went to the register and complained and the person at the register nodded his head as to say he understand my experience, but without offering any apology, discount, or expressing that someone would deal with this situation later. I made the decision to never return and write a review. I have never had an experience like this at this place. I also don’t recall ever seeing that waitress previously. Either way, I’m done with Chopstix buffet. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Chinese buffet.

So, I’ve eaten here a couple of times, so I definitely know I’m not getting 5 star service. It’s just a quick place to eat. However, today will be my last time going here. I was sitting at my table and a roach crawled on the table. At first, I thought it was a fly so I was gone swat it away. However, it crawled away and went under the table. I alerted the waitress and asked for my check. She had no reaction at all. That was my last $38 I will ever spend here.

Ama was our hostess and she kept our table clear of dishes and kept our drinks filled. This is a buffet and has some children making noise but this can be expected.

I would never eat here again. A lot of the food looked disgusting, and looked like it had been sitting out a long time. I (thankfully) didn’t eat much. My son however, ended up violently ill with food poisoning later that evening. I know that it happened at this restaurant because he did not eat anything or anywhere else all day. He was vomiting all night long and is still feeling weak the next day. This place has really gone downhill, and if I could give it zero stars I would. I do not recommend anyone eating at this place unless you would like to get food poisoning yourself. Not worth paying $60 for one of us to get so sick!
