The staff were friendly and helpful. We shared the chicken wings and chicken strips. I’m from the south. I was not expecting the chicken strips to be grilled. However, it was a happy surprise. Both items were juicy, flavorful and delicious. I did find the wings a bit spicy for me. I’m not a huge fan of hot flavors. Not bad, still delicious just needed the ranch dressing. All in all it’s worth a try.

What a great find!!! We were in Washington for 4 nights, and visited every night.
To us the atmosphere was so much fun. The food was excellent. But it is the staff that made it such a great place. They were all fantastic and really friendly. Special mention to our new buddy, Al for his great service.

You’re clearly not coming for the food, which is pretty awful. You’re not coming for a quiet chat because you can barely hear your own voice. So, you’re probably coming for the atmosphere, which definitely transports you back into the 1990s. The service is friendly, the food is really bad and the ambience is great, if you’re over 50.

We had a super time here. Busy as all get-out on a Thursday evening in February, so they must be doing something right. Loud, but we were having fun. Service people were swamped but highly competent. We enjoyed ourselves and tipped well, and those servers must have been exhausted when it was time to close up. Tasty food, cozy, and we had no complaints at all. Well done.

Bottom Line is one of those rare finds in DC that immediately feels familiar in the best way. Tucked away below street level, it has that classic basement bar vibe that reminded me of the great hidden spots in Chicago and Boston. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and just a little bit nostalgic, which makes it an easy place to settle into for a casual night out.

Their drink selection leans heavily (and impressively) into mules, offering a fun variety well beyond the standard ginger beer plus vodka formula. Each one I tried was balanced and refreshing, so it is clear that this is a house specialty. The menu mixes semi Mexican dishes with classic American bar food, and while the food is not the main attraction, it is solid, comforting, and pairs perfectly with the drinks.

Service was friendly and efficient, which added to the overall welcoming feel. Whether you are stopping in for a quick drink or settling in for an evening with friends, Bottom Line delivers a reliably good time. It is a great bar with personality, solid drinks, and an atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

Although the inside was not what I would call handicap friendly. My wife, kids, (who are too young to be out of their stroller)and I Chose this place. The inside resembled a bar but the outside had a nice atmosphere. In my opinion the food was excellent excellent. I ordered the wings which was seasoned nicely with their house specialty and a basket of tater tarts which they included their version of a horseradish sauce. Which seem to compliment the tater tarts quite nicely. The server a Mr. Jr gave me and my wife excellent service and made some suggestions here and there which really were great. My only gripe was that the BL old fashioned Manhattan ( an alcoholic drink) that I ordered had been made with 90% ice and 10% drink. It might be because I’m from Michigan that I I’m used to getting more drink than ice, but the level of ice in his drink seemed a bit excessive. But overall my opinion of the place, was it had a nice atmosphere, the service was great and the food was good. I rate it a 4 out of 5.

The Bottom Line is such a fun hidden gem in DC! It has that classic dive bar feel—nothing fancy, but super welcoming and full of personality. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with strong drinks, good vibes, and no pretentiousness, this is it.

The staff was friendly and quick, even with a pretty packed crowd. We came in for happy hour and were not disappointed—great prices, generous pours, and a solid selection of beers and cocktails. The music and energy made it easy to settle in and enjoy the night.

We rented out The Bottom Line for our wedding after-party last night, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. JR was kind and accommodating at every turn, and made sure the experience was exactly what we wanted. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and brought exactly the kind of attitude you would want for a milestone celebration. Thanks JR and team!
