At our Franklin, NC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I came to Captain D’s here in Franklin North Carolina after exiting Winding Stair Gap from the Appalachian Trail. This was my next town to resupply. After being on the trail for over 2 weeks this was the spot that I knew I needed to stop. I stopped outside on the curb and I looked at their reviews online. After seeing it was a 4.2 star rating I went inside and took my chance. I can say this is the best Captain D’s that I’ve ever been to. The store on the outside is immaculate but not in the best spot off the highway. The bathrooms were very clean, the service was outstanding at the counter, and the food is absolutely spectacular. Any day of the week I would love to come here and eat. The dining room is very clean, from what I could see the kitchen and the people are very clean, the food was amazing and the overall staff are very knowledgeable. If you haven’t eaten here yet you absolutely need to.

First time having Captain D’s. It was pretty good. I had the two pieces of fish, hush puppies, and fried okra. I tried all the sauces bc I’m a sauce fiend. Like Frylock said on ATHF: I got sauce out the ying yang! Anyway, I’d eat there again.

Very disappointed it seems every time I come here they get something wrong and your missing items and have to turn around and go back to get it corrected. We ordered a large potato soup. Got home and it was seriously just half full. So it may has well been a small in a Lg cup! Very disappointing you you pay for more and get less. Also we ordered the 2pc dish meal and was asked if we wanted to upgrade and get and extra fish so we did. It was $3.99 extra. And that extra fish was missing. So had to go back in. It’s just frustrating going here. We won’t be back. We have given the benefit of the doubt and tried many times and they just can’t get things together. I must say also that they aren’t busy when I have been. And still it’s a mess.

The food and service is great. 3 pc Fish meal was hot and delicious and my husband had the spicy fish sandwich and loved it.
The restaurant is in need of some paint but otherwise it was very clean and welcoming.
Tessa, who took our order and was very nice, and greeted us with a warm smile. The other staff member that we encountered were very nice, welcoming and professional.

We went with friends for dinner because we enjoy D’s. Senior specials are great on Wednesday and Sunday for a deal. It also includes your drink also. ( see my menu pic) I added a 1/2 order of clams for $2.99 and tasted good. Food came out hot and fish was fresh. Covid precautions were in place and tables being cleaned was nice. My only dislike is the condiment packages that we have to use during the Covid times

No complaints here! We visit Franklin often and decided to stop in for lunch. Restaurant was clean! We had seafood platters with fish, shrimp & deviled crab. Food was hot & not greasy. The fried okra was cooked perfect too!! Would stop in again if in town.

Sweetest kindest young man working on holiday LD Monday afternoon. The fish was light, crispy and delicious…it actually crunched!!! The food came out SO fast! I love when that happens!!! An excellent location!!!

I always get the 2 piece fish and fries, but most of the time I substitute cole slaw for the fries. The fish is always good and hot, and always delicious. I get the malt vinegar to dip it in.
