Welcome to Christo’s! That’s been our motto for 40 years. Originally from Detroit Michigan, the Cranias family has opened and operated over 20 independent restaurants between Detroit and Orlando. Most of our restaurants were called Christo’s. Named after our father and family patriarch, Chris Cranias….”The Old Man” as we used to call him. Papa Christo’s passed away several years ago, but the tradition lives on through his six children. “The Original Christo’s” in Downtown Sanford is our best effort to create a state of the art family oriented restaurant. Real Food For Real People is our mission! We don’t claim to be a health food restaurant or a trendy cafe. We are a grassroots family restaurant where friends and family can come eat.
Open since 1971, this family eatery serves pizza, burgers & other American fare in a homey space.

The beer selection is decent but could be better. For a place with such a loyal local following, it would be great to see draft options from nearby breweries.
For starters, we ordered the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, which was excellent: smooth, flavorful, and served with warm, chewy grilled pita.
I ordered the Firecracker Cheeseburger, topped with their house-made firecracker cheese ball, an onion ring, brick cheese, and firecracker sauce. It was cooked exactly as I requested and honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had in the area. I upgraded to onion rings, which had great flavor but were a bit greasy, as if the oil wasn’t quite hot enough.
My wife ordered The Works personal pizza, loaded with pepperoni, sausage, ham, bacon, veggies, and olives. It was delicious.
The only real downside was that the staff started shutting down the patio while we were still eating: pulling in umbrellas, flipping chairs, bringing in the sidewalk sign. Understandable since closing time was near, but it did take away from our experience and was distracting while we were eating.
Overall, the food was very good and we’ll definitely be back. A few small adjustments would make it better.
We stopped on the way back from Mt Dora to find a late night coffee shop and dessert. There were only a couple of customers but plenty of staff. We were immediately greeted when we came in and everyone seemed super friendly.
The atmosphere is very modern diner, floors and seating were clean. The dessert display case was pretty impressive. They have a ton of great cookie and bar selections, and then several unique pies.
The waitress met us right at the dessert case and explained to us what their most popular pies were. The number one selling seems to be the cheesecake and strawberry combination pie. There was also a lemon pie, a chocolate pie, a blueberry cream pie, a key lime pie, a Strawberry Shortcake pie, an apple pie and several others that I’m probably forgetting- making it very difficult to choose! We settled on a couple cookies, a lemon pie and the strawberry/cheesecake cream pie.
We also order coffee with our meal.and I had decaf -service was very fast. We received our cookies first, and then our pies shortly thereafter. The serving sizes were humongous on the pies!
The strawberry/cheesecake combination pie was a really interesting combo that was just delicious, apparently this is their number one selling pie, the staff said.
The lemon pie was said to be life-changing, but honestly, it was a tiny bit dry and tasted like it had been made the day before or maybe even a few days old, the flavor was still good and the buttercream was amazing.
the magic bar cookies were really good, quite excellent really , as was the chocolate chip cookie.
Another patron had a Gyro plate, and it looked absolutely amazing. He said it was delicious and his go to. Overall, the cost was reasonable and the coffee was excellent- probably the highlight of the night.
It was nice to be in Sanford somewhere other than the airport, So I would probably go again.
