This place is a little hidden in a very small plaza. You will need slow down a lot to find this place. The place is clean and very Ma&Pa. I can see many locals coming in & out. My friend and I came here for dinner. It wasn’t too busy and we both ordered black mole & tamale. I was excited to try it because I saw Mark Weins had tried authentic Black Mole in Oaxaca and it looked amazing. The mole is very dark and it tasted very rich & tasty. I added a little salsa on top and it was even better. The tamale wasn’t bad. The corn and meat inside was fresh and moist. We also tried the Chilacayota drink and it was refreshing & not too sweet. They also serve hand made tortillas which is always a bonus.

The food was good. I sadly don’t speak spanish so it was difficult to communicate with my server. One unique thing is they have crickets on the menu. My husband said they were delicious.
Great price! Loved the Guacamole!

The restaurant is a small mom and pop traditional home style cooking, comfort food from the Oaxaca State of Mexico with freshly made cooking and tradition feel. Just don’t come expecting to be served your food right way since it will take some time to get a table during lunch time and great tasty food with great taste takes time. My favorite dish is the Enchiladas de Mole and the Tlayuda Especial also the Tamale Oaxaqueño with Tepache

The food is good, but terrible service.
It gets very busy, there seems to only be one waitress all the time. We waited a long time for food and drinks, once they were delivered then nobody comes by to see if you need anything else.
Not only that, when we received our water there was a roach inside.
Also, their high chairs are broken; which is very unsafe.

Authentic Oaxacan food, we live in Bakersfield Ca and when we are near, we do our best to eat in this restaurant. Price is reasonable, wait time depends on the day and time, weekends are usually busy.

Very little food for the money. Has good flavor but so stingy they used Asian rice instead of Mexican rice for the mole. One small piece of chicken. Tlayuda especial had a thin strip of cesina they really cheaped out for this dish. No lechuga! At least charge 8 or 9 not $14!!! Costs $4.50 usd in México.
Overall it’s really over hyped I consider going to Oaxaca to eat the food(la abuelita) VS here as most restaurants suck for portions.

The Enchiladas Campesinas were slathered in their mild, flavorful tomatillo sauce. Being raised in SoCali and used to our style of food, these flavors were surprising. The sides were filling, but the plate didn’t leave you with any “heavy” feeling. Cool small place with a laid back local feel. The pic of my half demolished plate shows how much I enjoyed it. The plate was empty at the end of the meal.

The food was good, the coffee was excellent! They were very busy. I want to try their mole amarillo with hongos next time.
