I recently dined at Makira inside Dusit Thani Dubai, and it was such an amazing experience that I just had to share.
Hands down, they now serve the best ramen for me. I used to love Daikan Ramen, but after their price increase and removing kimchi and bok choy from the ramen, Makira easily became my top choice. The flavors here are rich, comforting, and authentic — every bowl feels thoughtfully prepared and truly satisfying.
A special shout-out to Chef Oliver — Filipino pride! Your cooking is outstanding and full of heart. Also thank you to Vinod, Lily (the wonderful manager), Three, Aksh, Head Chef Jinjo, and Tiya for the warm hospitality and attentive service. You all made the dining experience extra special. I’ll definitely be leaving a great review on Tripadvisor too!
If you’re craving authentic, delicious ramen with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere, Makira is a must-visit. Highly recommended — I’ll surely be back!
The food was insanely delicious. The Chefs really know what they are doing .
My favorites were the tom yum ramen, ebi tempura sushi and katsu curry. Even the drinks were great. We came back a second time and literally ordered the same dishes cos its so good.
Would definitely recommend everyone to try it and I would definitely visit again
The atmosphere is calm and elegant, with interiors that feel thoughtfully designed—great for a relaxed evening. We tried the Makira Signature Roll and the Dynamite Roll to start, and both were packed with flavor and clearly made with high-quality ingredients.
For mains, we had the Shake Teriyaki, and the salmon was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. What really made the night special were Kripa and Mehnaz—super friendly and attentive, they made us feel genuinely welcome.
Prices were very reasonable, which was a nice surprise. We’re already planning to come back soon, especially to try their Tuesday Tan Tan Ramen offer. Highly recommend!
This is undoubtedly the main reason to come to Makira. The cuisine is top-notch. **Presentation:** Each dish is served with pinpoint precision. It’s almost a shame to eat, but the incredible flavors quickly overcome this feeling. **Service:** Special thanks to Shree.
The staff is attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. They are happy to offer recommendations and help you choose, especially if you’re unsure about Japanese cuisine. Everything is served in a timely manner, without unnecessary rush.
**Sushi and Sashimi:** The fish and seafood are incredibly fresh and of the highest quality. The rolls are works of art, combining exquisite flavors and crispy textures. I especially recommend trying their signature rolls, such as the “Makira Special Roll”—an explosion of flavor
Today is my 6th time here, and I can confidently say it keeps the No1 place for tantan ramen that I’ve ever had.
Thank you to Shree, our hostess today, all the amazing cooks & chefs working their magic in the kitchen, and the whole Makira team
If you want to have a great Japanese cuisine experience with incredible service, make sure to visit Makira ❤️
• Poke bowl: 60 AED
• Hibiscus iced tea: 34 AED (hydration, but make it artisanal)
So I went to Makira for a poke bowl and left emotionally stable, well-fed, but spiritually abandoned.
Let’s start with the food — because that’s what really counts (apparently more than farewells).
Poke Bowl – 60 AED
For 60 dirhams, this bowl was suspiciously generous.
Fresh sashimi? Yes.
Actually fresh? Also yes.
Not the “this was defrosted during a meeting” kind — proper, clean, vibrant cuts of fish that tasted like they had self-respect.
The ratio was solid. No rice scam. No “hide the fish under lettuce” strategy. Just a proper bowl that didn’t feel like it was assembled during a crisis.
Hibiscus Iced Tea – 34 AED
Was it refreshing? Yes.
Was it 34 AED refreshing? Also yes, because apparently flowers are luxury now.
Lightly tart, not syrupy, and aesthetically pleasing enough to justify pretending you’re in a lifestyle magazine shoot.
The Service Plot Twist
Everything was smooth. Efficient. Professional. Very Japanese minimalism energy.
And then… I left.
No “Arigato.”
No nod.
No subtle respectful bow.
Not even eye contact.
I walked out like a ghost who had paid 94 dirhams for the privilege of existing. I didn’t need fireworks — just basic culinary closure. Even my delivery apps thank me more enthusiastically.
Final Verdict
• Food quality: Excellent
• Value for sashimi quantity: Strong
• Drinks: Elegant but priced like they attended private school
• Emotional send-off: Pending
It’s a very good spot — clean flavors, proper ingredients, no nonsense. I’d absolutely go back… but next time I might linger at the door dramatically just to see if someone acknowledges my departure.
Because sometimes, all we want in life is fresh sashimi and a goodbye.
