Article in MLive said this is the best donut in Michigan and its been in the same family for 100 years. Got to give it a try. Again, this is a 100 years old family business,

Cash or business checks only btw.

They make yeast and cake donut and have typical shapes you see in other places. All very good, bigger size than average. They also have a crescent donut which looks like an empanada. (See pictures).
I usually don’t get cake donut because the ones from Tim Horton are gross and dry. But Hinkley do it right . They are tender in the inside and the taste like a muffin.

Finally made it down from Lansing. I struggled to find good donuts in mid Michigan so this has been on my list for a while. Well worth the wait and I’ll definitely be back.

Visited this bakery on the recommendation of a local and have been back multiple times! On my 1st visit I didn’t know they were cash only and only had a few dollars on me, the owner made sure I got a taste of all they had to offer with what little cash I had on me. The level of customer service and kindness I received was amazing! The donuts were the best I’ve ever had! The hot donut holes are to die for!!

Absolutely the best donuts in the entire State of Michigan. Just remember that they’re cash only and are only open 3 days per week. We’ve been going here for years, ever since I was a little kid. The bakery is over 100 years old and is a Jackson staple. If you love sweets, this is the place for you.

The absolute best donuts in the Midwest. Hands down. They are only open a few days a week, and they only take cash….but the line is always out the door and around the building every morning. If you ever are in the area traveling, you have to stop here. The building is falling apart, and the inside of the store looks like my 90 year old Grandma’s attic. But you will keep coming back for the donuts.

I stopped by close to noon, and they were still doing good business. It’s an old fashioned building, and the donuts are fantastic. The business is cash-only, and when I visited there wasn’t a huge selection, but the donuts are great. I tried three: a plain glazed donut, an apple donut, and a chocolate crescent. The prices weren’t bad, and the flavors were rich without being overly sweet. This bakery definitely lives up to its reputation as a purveyor of delicious baked goods.
