For almost $40 I could have definitely found somewhere better to spend my money. The wings were way too overcooked and dry. They only offer one sauce for their wings and its wattery and just not good. Their chicken strips were overcooked as well and barely had any meat to them. The mac n cheese was runny and did not have good flavor at all. We didnt even finish eating and decided to go somewhere else. Very disappointed.

My wife and I ate dinner at BBQ King yesterday , and we had a good experience! We drive up from Indian Trail NC to shop and always stop in to eat at BBQ King .

We got two barbecue sandwiches ,and an order of onion rings plus I got a cup of Brunswick stew . The onion rings were cold but they were quick to offer us some hot ones ! My wife was sick most of the night ! The only difference in our sandwiches was she got slaw on her sandwich and I didn’t . We have eaten here before with no problems, so we believe the slaw was the problem . We will continue to make our trips to Lincolnton NC and stop in and eat at BBQ !
Thanks Wayne

Old school bbq joint. Food was good! Got the plate with 3 sides with a sweet tea to-go. The BBQ was good. The sauce is a little too tangy for me. I probably would’ve picked a different side than the Mac, it wasn’t great. Baked beans are good. Hush puppies were really good. Other than the mac, everything was definitely filling. Would recommend if anyone asked me. The service and staff are friendly and incredibly helpful.

I have ate here on many occasions and it has always been great food. I love their onion rings especially because they cut them bread them and fry them on the spot, they do not use frozen onion rings .They have great workers their also, give them a try if you haven’t.

Great bbq, homemade onion rings, slaw is great and so is the spicy sauce. Quick service and friendly too.

Will not be back to this place. BBQ sauce was like watered down vinegar. Onion rings were more like slimy onion pieces. Water tasted like it came out of a river. Orders are yelled out making the atmosphere loud and chaotic. Only positive to write about was the staff was friendly.

Me and my party went to this restaurant because from the Google pictures it looked like great food at a great price, however, after ordering and sitting down, we realized it was somewhat mediocre food, at a barely acceptable price. We ordered their hot dog and chicken sandwich, which were more expensive than their prices shown online, and the food felt very cheap, as if they ordered the lowest quality ingredients to cut corners and costs of business, which is acceptable, but when you pay $3.50 for a hot dog, you expect something a bit better than what they have here. The chicken sandwich was $7, which is also somewhat outrageous for what it is, which was a standard, unseasoned chicken patty with plenty of lettuce and a tomato slice. We also ordered a side of onion rings, which also seemed unseasoned, and were unappetizingly soggy before we even took our first bite, likely as they were kept under a heat lamp long term instead of being made fresh to order. I do not look forward to writing bad reviews, and I apologize to any I might offend from this one.

If you have lived in Lincoln County for any length of time, you are familiar with the legend of BBQ King! This establishment truly needs no introduction — but if you’re new to town, this is your sign to stop in and behold the experience. Keith Smith, Jordan Smith, and the rest of the team here make and serve EXCEPTIONAL barbecue! I love hearing my order of King Combo with hushpuppies and fries shouted out the moment I place the order. And I make a point to stop in, sit down, and kick back in their home-y wooded dining room. I have been a proud patron of BBQ King for decades and recently have been happy to service their account as a waste vendor at Waste Connections. True professionals in every sense — from the product and service down to their communication. I love working with them and continuing to see their success. 50 years in the restaurant game is remarkable but it’s not hard to see why they’re just as popular as ever. You would be wise to support this local staple in any capacity you can!
