The rolling hills of northern PA is home to the trees that Whisky Hollow taps as a family to produce the finest maple syrup we’ve had the pleasure of trying.

Great food with a fantastic atmosphere and ambiance, though it is very expensive. Worth trying to see if the price feels justified. Two people, each having a slice of pizza and a ham and cheese croissant with two bottles of water, came to $40. This will probably be an occasional treat for me, maybe once every few months. I understand the higher prices, given the labor and effort involved in running a proper bakery. The vibe reminds me of a London café when I’m there

We stopped into the Buttery to have lunch and it was fantastic! For our meals, we had the croissant and the lemongrass rice bowl. Perfect portions and great flavor. We also had a chocolate chip cookie for dessert – would eat here again!!

I’ve been wanting to visit for forever now, and it definitely did not disappoint!! I got the turkey sandwich and a vanilla iced oat milk latte; both were incredible! The interior is giving farmhouse rustic vibes, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating available too. They have plenty of food options from pastries to sandwiches to salad. I can’t wait to come back and try other things on the menu!

When a pastry/coffee shop starts to do business, it stops doing their pastries. Then it loses its businesses.

Having loved this place for years, telling all my friends how good this place is and urging them to come, although it had only three square tables and a few window seats, at least I respected the old Malvern Buttery – they seemed to care about their pastries. The customers waited for a long time without seats, at least the customers were equally ignored – none was labeled.

Suddenly, either you changed your owner or your owner became ambitious – renovation, new menu and a whole lot more customers. New store opened in Ardmore. One is being prepared in Bryn Mawr. Nice, isn’t it?

Now things become interesting. Your new business move is to label your customers. As a loyal “laptop” customer, I am not welcomed anymore. Oh, “it’s just from 8am to 2pm”. You are pretending that you care about one group while casting out the other. What a beautiful business move. Ah, “back end of the coffee bar” – you mean the 3-4 seats at the doors of the restrooms?it makes me think of the old days when black passengers were only allowed at the back of a bus.

One day I was sitting at the big table, new customers came and squeezed in, what a magical moment! People started to talk to each other and I’ve heard strangers having long and meaningful conversations. I was thinking, wow, this is what a local pastry shop should look like – but now, seeing your new policy, I could only laugh at the naive me.

My advice? Mind your pastries. Let the customers figure out their seats. Then you are still the old good 4.8/5.0 Malvern Buttery not the new fancy Buttery – Malvern.

Don’t be so stupid to group your customers and treat them differently. Laptop users do buy food. Besides discrimination, there are many more better ways such as imposing a universal two-hour time limit for each order – if customers want to stay longer? They order more.

PS: one more thing I hated post-renovation is that you stopped making the coffee chocolate scone.

Phenomenal brunch spot, offering house-made bakery items and elevated breakfast staples. I had the mushroom pizza and basque cheesecake, both were amazing and fresh. There was a bit of a line but it moved fast and there was virtually no wait for the food to arrive. Seating is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. I can’t wait to come back and try the other menu items.

Great food. Full menu with varied choices. Unique ingredients that come together to form combos that work. Turkey and cheddar works well with slaw and slices of apple.
Noise level can be a bit intense when eating in, but well worth it.

Update: We’ve since recommended The Buttery to several friends. It’s worth checking out!
Parking can be a bit hard to find, but be patient, and drive up and down the main street to find a spot.

Cake, bakery, dessert, salads, coffee. They have everything and are all tasty. Their bakery products have a very crispy texture. You can hear the crunchy sounds in every bite, which is a joyful experience to me.

We have been here many times during summer and the outdoor seating areas are all full before 10am. There are seating area inside. People working there are super friendly. For instance, I ordered a large Americano, and they told me there are four shots inside and asked me if it is too strong and would like to make adjustments, etc.

Overall, we are so grateful to have something like Malvern Buttery around the neighborhood.

Such a great spot! The pastry case is huge and filled with savory and sweet offerings from berry pastries to cheddar and chive croissants. The drink menu is also pretty solid! A few tables and counter seating inside, plus lots of outdoor seating on a nice day.

Been here a few times. The drinks are okay, but the baked goods are awesome.

Seating is limited. They have a handful of bar stools and a few tables inside. If the weather is nice, there’s a lot of outdoor seating.

I’ve been coming to the buttery for years, since 2015 when they opened. We used to love the buttery and be so excited to go check out what pastries they had. We were there once a week most weeks! There used to always be rotating items, and one-off items they were experimenting with. Even when they re-opened with a new model during the pandemic we would find one or two items most visits that were new and different. Since their new remodel (and their change to baking their pastries in an off-site central kitchen), it feels like they have lost their creativity and innovation. The pastries and offerings are the same each time I visit and we don’t feel the need to “go see what the buttery has today”. It’s disappointing that they aren’t as exciting and experimental anymore.

Another thing I noticed in my recent visits is that the flow of service doesn’t make sense. There are usually a few people behind the pastry counter who just look around and avoid eye contact. I’m not sure if I should be ordering with them or at the register. I’ve found that the flow of service is never consistent.

That being said, the buttery’s new space is beautiful and I’m so glad there’s more indoor seating!

Don’t get me wrong, they still make a great croissant and their new pizzas are incredible. I understand the need to change production since they are expanding, but it appears that the expansion is coming at the cost of the creativity and quality of their products.
