This was truly the worst time I had had in a McAlister’s since we moved to Roanoke three years ago. It had been a five star experience then, but now it is horrible.
The store is filthy. The staff are underprepared, understaffed, and under motivated. The food looks like the chefs have fully given up. My potato looked dessicated. My son’s ham and cheese toastie was 1/3 full.
We had to choose the least disgusting booth we could find. Even this was covered in crumbs and dust, with trash stuffed between the booths.

They’re charging a lot for salads that have obviously been sitting in the back for an hour before ordering. Soft, wilted lettuce and chicken that tasted fishy combined into the worst Caesar salad I’ve ever paid for. WOW this was disappointing

This place is a sandwich shop. Stop to get takeout for supper. The sandwiches I got were really good. I didn’t recieve my pickles, but I did get a bonus cup of soup. Everything worked out in the end. Service was friendly and helpful. Place was very clean.

12/10/25 – portions are smaller and prices are higher at almost $20bucks. And they can’t turn on the heat.
05/30/25 – some days great service others not so much.
Waiting for food to come to table is ridiculous when busy with one person working.
Why i don’t tip here.
2/24/25 – was hungry for a real club sandwich. They have that and so much more. I had to try a baked potato with toppings.
3/13/20 used the coupon and cashier heard me say no honey mustard and i enjoyed it this time.
I asked that the bread be toasted. They say all sandwiches are toasted but gives me warm bread not toasted!
Manager asked how it was and i told him. He offered me a coupon for next time. Reason why it is 3 not 1 star.

Love McAl’s dine in, not so much for delivery. Worth going in for. Delivery, with a 5 dollar tip for two – Pick 2’s and a gallon of their tea was $60 (5 dollar tip on top an additional 6 delivery fee and another 7 in other fees). Meal was also “Bigger” in the store. Highly recommend going in, don’t recommend delivery unless you’re in a bind…

It was my first time here and she ran through the vegetarian options and offered to customize what I wanted. Meagan was very upbeat and informative when we had a couple of questions. I love the convenience McAllister offers and also the food quality. The food is always good, they have free drink refills, and the service is very friendly.

This was the first time that I have actually dined in here although they’ve catered us at work plenty of times. The food is great. Always fresh and always a lot! Dined in this time. You have the option of ordering at the counter or ordering by app at your table and someone will bring it to you. It’s tucked away in a small shopping strip mall. Good parking. Nice and quiet area. I highly recommend if you want a casual, quiet place with great food. ****UPDATE*** 10/15/21. Had dinner here again. My son’s first time. We had a wonderful, fresh, healthy dinner. Lots of options, including my favorite, 1/2 sandwich with bowl of soup. If you’re in the area, definitely give them a try.

Sandwiches are good. I have tried the French Dip and the Italian. The app makes it easy to add jalapeños and roasted peppers and see all of the toppings choices.
The half sandwich and half salad deal is a pretty good portion. They fill the plate with the salad, and a half sandwich is pretty light. So I would order that if you are more hungry for variety, or want a decent sized salad and to taste test a small sandwich.
The potato salad can be substituted for chips on the full sandwich meal for an upcharge and is worth it. The potato salad is pretty good and homemade it appears.
Their tea is pretty good. I am not really into the flavored tea products, but they have several to choose from if you are.
They have a monthly tea club where you can get a glass of tea daily for 30-day price of $7.99 from the date of purchase it looks like, so you dont have to start at the first of the month.
I plan to try more of the sandwiches and salads with the combo special to see what sandwich I like best and to have some variety to look forward to when I visit.
Their takeout is convenient as well. They put the order on a shelf area by last name. They are pretty quick with their service and restaurant is kept clean.
