Tucked away on a quiet street in Murray Hill, Ahimsa was a pleasant surprise in food and atmosphere. We’re not vegetarians and there were so many things we wanted to try. Great for gluten free diets. We had a bottle of wine, samosas, onion pakoras, alu gobi, naan bread and an enormous dosa filled with a delicious mushroom, potato and onion filling.
The staff were so nice and accommodating!

This is my go-to Indian spot in Midtown. The food is always delicious, fresh, and consistently well-prepared every time I visit. The staff are incredibly kind and thoughtful, and the ambience is inviting, relaxing, and elegantly designed. Always a great experience.

I would give Ahimsa more stars if I could! Rightfully named after the most important yogic principle, this vegetarian/vegan Indian restaurant is top-tier in quality & service.

This evening I had the samosa appetizer which came with two delicious chutneys for dipping. For my entree I had the masala dosa, which was the best I’ve had outside of India. 10/10 would highly recommend, it is a healthy portion with a huge amount of bread, a big serving of sambar, coconut & tamarind (?) chutney. Stellar.

The ambiance was pleasant: tidy & inviting, menus come on tablets which is nice. The waitstaff were very sweet & accommodating (it was a Saturday evening at prime time & I was dining solo which I understand could be disappointing for staff). Nonetheless, they were very accommodating, welcoming & provided great service.

Thank you, Ahmisa, I will be back!

I travelled Newyork first time n had a lunch with my son and husband @Ahimsa. I was so happy to see the strict Jain food (No roots) in Newyork….Food prepared by Chefs are from Nepal n they did a good job…. Excellent food ….We had ordered methi malai matar , chana masala, tandoori roti, lachchha parantha…. They had served rice too…everything was perfect n spice level was medium …Staff is very supportive n helpful….Price is little bit up but one should visit Ahimsa for vegetarian choice n esp Jain food requirements…Thanks for helping me out to get a tasty food in Newyork.

Fantastic Indian restaurant! They only serve vegetarian food but it’s seriously good. Service was top notch as well. We had to wait for the table for a bit but they were very accommodating.
The only problem we had was with the spice levels. We ordered everything medium level spicy but it was more on the higher-end of the heat spectrum than the rest of the places. So if you don’t want spicy or want the least amount of spice, just go for mild. But food was still amazing.

Offers unique dishes that are not commonly found in most Indian restaurants! Particularly loved the vada (savory lentil flour doughnut) and idli (rice cake) in sambar soup. Everything else was good too and appreciated the staff triple checking with the kitchen on dietary restrictions. Highly recommend!
