We were looking for a Pho spot along I-5 heading to Sac and Google took us to Taste of Pho, but the restaurant was renamed to Pho Ava. We were greeted upon arrival and the staff said we can choose any table, which was nice. Cold water was served, gave us straws but there was no ice. We ordered two small Pho Dac Biet (B1) and Vietnamese Coffee (J1). Coffee came out first, and was pretty dark. If you like it sweet, ask for more condensed milk. A small was perfect portion, broth wasn’t bad, had a slight sweet flavor for my taste. It’s served with lots of green onions. Basil leaves and jalapeño added more flavor to the broth. I usually don’t add bean sprouts, but it does give a nice crunch or you can ask for it blanched(cooked). Staff checked in twice during our time there which was nice customer service to receive. Would like to come back and try other dishes.

I eat at a lot of pho places throughout California and have been disappointed in most pho restaraunts in Elk Grove. However, Pho Ava meets my expectations for the rice plates and beef pho.
Pros: Good portion size for price. Beef Pho taste great and the broth is beefy, herby, and oily like it should be. Staff are friendly.
Cons: Chicken pho was overly sweet. Crowded with limited seating. Hidden from the street so you wont see the place from main roads.

We decided to try out this new restaurant and support the grand opening. There’s a grand opening special that says buy one get one 50% off.
We ordered two Combination Pho (B1) and egg rolls (A3).
The food is decent and the portions are good.
Construction is still ongoing at the back of the restaurant so we heard some background noise but that’s acceptable.
Everything was fine UNTIL WE CHECK OUT.
Turns out if you decided to get an appetizer such as egg rolls/spring roll, you will get punished by getting a 50% discount on the appetizer (cheapest item), instead of the pho.
My understanding was that if you buy one pho and you’ll get 50% off on the second bowl. Unfortunately this is not the case. The reason for that is “Sorry this is the rule”.
Likely not a big deal for future customers because today (NY’s eve) is the last day for the grand opening special discount. But because of this incident, I for sure will not visit again. It’s not about the quality of food nor a few dollar discount, but the unsatisfying experience that felt a little scammy, during their grand opening days. Who knows if there’ll be any other hidden rules in the future.

My new favorite Vietnamese spot! It’s tucked away next to the Starbucks and has such a cute interior. The food is made from scratch which makes it super flavorful and the grilled pork is my absolute favorite. I hope this place never goes away! 10/10 recommend!

Es la primera vez que vamos a este pho y en verdad está riquísimo y muy bien servido los platillos, tuvimos que pedir para llevar, porque entre mi esposo y yo no terminamos los tres platillos. Y su frescura de los alimentos de 10, crujientes. 1 Egg roll con veggies, 2 arroz blanco con grill pork y el 3 fue el Pho con res y tendon. Sería uno de mis lugares favoritos, pero solo estábamos de paso. Espero regresar pronto.☺️
