Ribs were fall off the bone at first bite. Chicken was just right; not soggy and definitely not dry. Pulled pork was also delightful.
We brought a whole box of leftovers back and ordered peach cobbler to go. Do not leave here without the cobbler. Otherwise, what is the point in enjoying all of that spread, if you don’t finish it off with the sweet taste of Shane’s mommas peach cobbler!?!?!?
I recently ordered the Shack-Potato from Shane’s Rib Shack, a menu item I had genuinely looked forward to based on the brand’s prior reputation for quality comfort food. What arrived was, unfortunately, a far cry from the experience this chain once delivered.
The potato itself was severely undercooked — hard to the touch and nowhere near the soft, fluffy texture one reasonably expects from a baked potato. The toppings were so sparse that I found myself scraping together what little cheese had been applied before ultimately having to finish baking the potato at home just to make it edible. To add to the frustration, the side toppings were entirely missing, and the BBQ — once a standout feature of this establishment — was notably dry.
What is most disheartening is the contrast with what Shane’s used to offer. The BBQ here was genuinely exceptional at one point: tender, moist, and rich with flavor. That quality is what built this brand’s loyal following. To see a signature item reduced to an undercooked, under-topped potato marketed under the guise of “value” is a disservice both to the customer and to the standard Shane’s once set for itself.
Cost-cutting measures are an unfortunate reality in the restaurant industry, but when they begin to compromise the foundational quality of a dish, the value proposition disappears entirely. I sincerely hope this reflects an isolated incident rather than a systemic shift in the brand’s standards — because the potential is clearly still there. It simply needs to be honored.
Oh yeah!! No silverware or napkins. Talk about cheating out.
After Steve left and doesn’t run this location the quality and service has went downhill. The employees are rude, short and obviously don’t want to be there. The food is no longer the same either.
I have no intention of returning anytime soon.
The condiments for the Burger came in little packages to apply, so I had to open the Burger and found an overcooked Burger, one wilted piece of lettuce, one pickle chip, and a couple of strands of onion. The bun was also damp. The meat quality was not good with me having to spit hard pieces from the Burger out.
The fries were abundant but soggy; I threw many of them away. They also tasted undercooked.
The root beer had good flavor but two-thirds of the cup was ice.
The sweet potato fries were soggy and undercooked, I threw many of them out.
The Cole slaw had too much dressing which was of a thick consistency and odd flavor. I threw much of it out.
The BBQ beans were thick and not great.
The toast was supposed to contain garlic which was hard to taste through all of the salt. Maybe garlic salt was being used to supply the garlic. It was terrible.
This was the first time that I ate here, and I ordered through their website. The food was supposed to be ready at 8:35pm, and I found a drive-up window for online order pickup. I pulled up to the window and called the listed number on the window and they said they would have my food to me in a minute. This was 8:30pm. I called again at 8:45pm and they said my food would be right out, which it was.
I will not return.
