My daughter and I ate here on Halloween. Service was A+. Food was A+. And the atmosphere was A+. We can hardly wait to try again when in the area. The only dish I didn’t care for was the esquites because it was very bland. We mixed it with the chorizo dip and that made it better. My carne asada was perfect. The waitress checked on us regularly and the restaurant was well kept. Like I said, A+.

Ok wow! Casa Azul is a gem! If you’re looking for a diverse menu, beautiful atmosphere and great service, this is it! Vivian was super quick (even during the dinner rush) and still managed to chit chat with our 10 year old son 🙂
We’ll be back for sure!!

First time going there. My dinner was fantastic, the tamales were very authentic and delicious. My husband’s fajitas were just “ok” According to him they were very dry. The menu was a refreshing change from ‘typical restaurants’. The decor makes you feel like you are on vacation. My only con, it is very noisy. Although part of that was probably the table near us.

We live in the area but have never stopped to eat. Wow! Have we been missing out. The drinks and food were amazing. We travel to Mexico. This is by far the best and most authentic Mexican that we have had in Hickory. They have 4 locations: Lincolnton, Shelby as well as Gastonia. I also love the decor.

Wow, where do you start? I’ll start with, it was my first time trying this establishment. First the menu, was quite different than most of the other Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area, I ordered mixed fajitas, steak and chicken, usually it comes with refried beans, rice and a guacamole salad , has shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, tomatoes, sour cream and guacamole. Not here, no salad at all, in place of it was literally a spoon of Pico de Gallo. I ask for and offered to pay for a spoon of guacamole, no deal, offered me a 10 dollar bowl of a guacamole dip, no thanks, I already bought an 8 dollar bowl of cheese/bean dip. I couldn’t get the bean dip without the cheese dip mixed in, they charged more this way! The prices were definitely higher for the same items at other restaurants. Last, the service started out ok but went south real quick, we had to ask for everything, nothing offered and after checking on us once our waitresses disappeared. She stayed in hiatus until time to pay then she went into Chinese/Japanese restaurant mode, rushed us at every turn and kept staying near our table and like staring us down! You no leave yet? Lol. What made it worse, we were first time customer’s and it was at least 2 1/2 hours before closing and the place was basically empty, not busy at all! Our service should have been off the hook! Still left a 10% tip for some reason! May try them once more, I believe in second chances usually but I may not!

If you haven’t been to Casa Azul Mexican Kitchen, you’re truly missing out! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, top-notch service that makes you feel right at home. The sons owner angel is not only incredibly professional but also genuinely cares about every guest’s experience and it shows.
Now let’s talk about the food: unreal. I had the Pescado C-Az Salmon with extra shrimp, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every bite was a reminder of how great authentic Mexican cuisine can be.
The atmosphere is vibrant, cozy, and full of positive energy. Whether you’re going on a date, grabbing dinner with family, or just treating yourself, this place hits the mark on all levels.
Highly recommend once you try it, you’ll be coming back again and again!
