Offering an eclectic twist on good ol southern home cooking with focus on local ingredients. Not to mention a vast selection of beer, mimosas and bloodys. We opened the first Hair of the Dog in Virginia Beach on the boulevard with excitement to bring something new and fresh to the scene. We’ve been met with great enthusiasm since our first opening several years ago and thought expanding to Norfolk made perfect sense.
Playful American haunt with breakfast-centric comfort foods & ample craft beers, plus patio seating.

I got the steak and eggs, and the chimichurri sauce on top of the steak and the home fry potatoes was excellent, steak was cooked exactly how I wanted, my wife got the Pancakes topped with Churros and cinnamon chocolate sauce, and my daughter got the pancakes in the picture, the waitress added a smiling face just for her which made her day. The Atmosphere was very relaxing, Not what I expected, Which was a good thing. Next time we’re down that far in the Virginia Beach area, I believe we’ll definitely stop by again. I really want to try the burger that was on the menu…

The music was great. Loved the vibe of this place. Menu had so many good options, was hard to choose. Enjoyed the chicken and waffles. Coffee was mid, not awful but I wouldn’t go back for their coffee specifically. Overall recommend!

Went there on a Sunday. Very busy, wait about thirty minutes but immediate seating was available outside.
The food was very tasty, nothing overpowering.
We had buffalo chicken cone as an app then chicken and waffles and a buffalo chicken sandwich. We also had their Mac and cheese.
The chicken was cooked to perfection and the service was great.
We’ll be back!

I truly enjoyed Hair of the Dog eatery. It has that local feel to it. I love the style and the design of the place. The food is good. We had the buffalo chicken sandwich and the carnivore omelette. Emily was very kind. Great spot to eat if you’re in Virginia Beach town center. Ample parking

Used to love this place. Went for brunch. The host got upset when I asked for a table that wasn’t right next to the front door. It was windy and freezing, plus everyone that came in would be shuffling by our table. He told me that seating us somewhere else would mess up the rotation. After I stared at him and asked if he’d be able to figure something out, he huffed and puffed and stormed off, then came back and sat us as close as he could to another table, but away from the door.
I had to ask for a server after 20 minutes so I guess I really messed up the rotation past the point of a restaurant being able to figure out. Two Bloody Marys took 20 minutes and two meals took ONE WHOLE HOUR. I complained after 45 minutes of waiting for our food, after watching larger tables seated after us starting to pay their checks. I just asked for the bill so we could find someplace to eat. They must have really held a grudge against the whole “rotation” issue. The manager on duty ended up delivering the meals before the check arrived and said they would be taken off of the bill and the server had forgotten to put the order in. The food wasn’t as good as it used to be but we were starving at that point. I was really excited to eat here and it turned into a disgusting waste of time.

Not what I expected. I think people are here for the drinks.
Devil eggs are not good. Way too watered down. But I didn’t like the bacon crumbles twist.
The burger?
A story in its self. So the cook takes their time ,makes a homemade waffle for the bun. Which was unique. Fry fresh bacon and egg but the star of the show was a hard frozen patty but not their fault. It wasn’t bad but I would not return. Breakfast looks like their main focus. It seems like lunch, far as what we got was an after thought. But the name and the decor was neat. I don’t drink and didn’t get breakfast so I would check it out yourself and share your experience

I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and my husband had the chicken biscuit with fries. My sandwich was great. Included lettuce and onions and came with blue cheese crumbles on the side. The fries were pretty standard. Nothing bad or great about them. My husband said his meal had good flavor, but the biscuit fell apart into a pile of crumbs when he bit into it, so had to be eaten with a spoon to eat it with the chicken. They were out of sweet tea, but the server comped the unsweetened without us asking. Server was friendly, food came out quick. Decent experience but wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch during peak hours. We were told 40 minutes but it wound up being 25 which was a great surprise. Yes, it can get crowded but worth it! We started with Bloody Mary’s, old bay seasoning you should definitely try, and the Sticky Chicken Waffle Cone. Breaded chicken thigh nuggets in a Nashville heat sauce in a waffle cone drizzled with doughnut glaze. Dam good sweet heat mix! The wife enjoyed the classic benedict and I had the meatloaf sandwich. That meatloaf sandwich was bacon wrapped meatloaf, mashed potatoes with spicy tomato chutney on toasted sourdough! That thing was like a taste of home! Service was prompt and really friendly! Overall it was a great experience. Recommend you stop in!
