Ok we ended up at Greek Islands on a whim as our go to Mediterranean spot booked up.
My better half had been here years ago and enjoyed it. I will say both exterior of the building and interior decor was dated but to us, it’s about the food.
Highly recommend the Phoradas as a starter. The spicy Feta and eggplant dip wonderful. Hummus and Tzatziki also tasty.
Loved the dressing on the salad as a perfect combination of oil, vinegar and spices.
She ordered traditional Gyros which were very good. I honestly fell in love with the Pastitsio. I have not tasted such a flavorful version for years. I was lucky to grow up around wonderful Greek restaurants and this brought me home to them.
We finished with the Baklava Cheesecake and it was a great ending to a fantastic meal.
Our only regret was service. Initial host was wonderful but the actual server seemed disinterested and a bit rude honestly. It happens.

I really wanted to like this place. I was visiting my gf and I’m a big foodie, she told me that Greek Island is an Indianapolis classic. $200 later we were extremely disappointed. We order sampler platter, flaming cheese & 3 entrees the stuffed flounder, Moussaka & lamb.
They definitely do not know how to cook fish. My gf sent back the first time because it was like cardboard, the next fish they brought out was cold and not good (almost raw) the moussaka was ok, I’ve had better. The lamb was also just ok. The bread was not good. Hummus bland, baba ganoush just ok. Flaming cheese was good. Wine cheap tasting $12 a glass is not a big deal but I was horrible. The tzatziki was flavorful. The waters really tried hard but this place is struggling. I would not go back.

The food was delicious the only complaint was the Olympic green beans were way over cooked would not recommend. My husband loved the hummus he said it was some of the best he has had. I got the pork tenderloin it was really good highly recommend. The Kalamata olives were good but a little on the expensive side but would do them again. My husband got the Pastitsio for his main dish he loved it and highly recommends it the only thing is it comes with the Olympic green beans and he said next time he will get a substitute for them I agree and I usually love green beans but not this time. The galaktoboureko that we had for dessert was to die for definitely will be getting it again.

Oh my goodness! Everything was great: the food, the service, the appetizers, the desserts. It wasn’t my first time there and I have never been disappointed. I cannot say good enough about this place. These people know how to cook great food and service was above and beyond great.

In 2011, we were passing through Indianapolis during a trip back from South Dakota and we stopped into a very nice Greek restaurant. For the passed 3 years, we have been going to Indianapolis for my daughter to attend GenCon and I always wanted to go back to that Greek Restaurant. Unfortunately, that restaurant isn’t there any more so I went to look for another Greek Restaurant on our last trip this year and I found this great place, Greek Islands. We went to Greek Island because it looked so nice from the outside and it’s very close to the convention center. It was really great. The inside ambience doesn’t match the cuteness of the outside but the food and service made up for any shortcomings in that area. Our waiter was great. I think his name was Jimmy but I am not sure. He had a limp and he was super attentive and very friendly. He is a real bonus for the restaurant. He said he was the owner’s Κουμπάρος (Best Man) I believe. Once he found out my wife was Greek, he spoke Greek exclusively and made us feel like family. I had the Pastitsio and a baklava and they were both amazing. My wife had the Greek salad and my daughter had the Gyro. The food was excellent. I will definitely go back here next time I am in Indianapolis.

This was the first time visit for us out being adventurous. Two people at our party and we got there earlier than a reservation and we’re welcomed with open arms. The staff was very pleasing. We had the sampler for an appetizer which was all very good. And we did it get a chance to experience some things. We never had before.Which is the purpose of going to establishments?Like this for us. I have the traditional gyro meal my wife had the meat pie. The crushed on everything was very good. Very flaky.
A meal was big enough to take some home for each of us in a box.And I ordered an extra meat pie to enjoy at home. We will definitely be going back in the future.

Absolutely fantastic food, and the staff are passionate and excited about food and quality as well. This place is heavenly for people who not only love quality food clearly made with culinary expertise, but a welcoming atmosphere to those who feel the same. Greek island restaurant is worth a visit, easily.
I personally ordered the Saganaki and Kreatopita (meat pie), and it’ll be difficult to get anything else next time.
