Great atmosphere, a beautiful view of the river from the dining area and fantastic food!
We drove an hour and a half to eat here and we were pleasantly surprised when we discovered what we considered the very best burgers we’ve ever had in our lives. The burgers are hand-pattied and not frozen. The French fries were perfect as were the onion rings. This is located on the beautiful Cherohala Skyway and plenty of free parking is offered. Live music downstairs on the weekends!

We received GREAT service! My hubby & I both opted for the trout dinner, which included 2 sides & was delicious. We got a table by the window with an exceptional view. Prices are fair and the restaurant was very clean & casual. Plenty of parking.

I visited this restaurant this past November 2025 and had a great experience! The waitress (I can’t remember her name, sadly) was so kind and accommodating to our large party. I got the large pretzel and loved it. The view outside was beautiful and my family enjoyed walking around and looking at the water. If I’m ever back in town, I’m definitely making a point to stop here.

The view was nice. Our waitress was very friendly. The grilled trout was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The homemade chips were really good.

I haven’t ever felt the need to write a review until I ate here. I ordered the bruiser burger with fries for dinner tonight. The burger itself was extremely unpleasant. The blue cheese sauce tasted horrible. The burger patty both looked like and tasted like a frozen, pre-made patty, and it was very dry. My husband ordered the fried chicken strips, and they were not only overcooked and dry but also super salty. Both of us ordered French fries, but they were greasy and cold. Sixteen dollars for a hamburger that’s not fresh in the slightest is rather revolting. Definitely overpriced, not going back to this place.

Service-wise: Our food took forever (the restaurant wasn’t busy in the slightest), plus my husband had to ask for beverage refills, and I never received one.

The only plus is the beautiful view of the river…

We had an awesome lunch today at Iron Works Grille and it absolutely did not disappoint. The food was fresh and perfectly prepared. You can tell they take pride in what they serve, but what really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. The band was excellent and being by the river made it a great spot.

The owner Vinit has built something special here. If you’re anywhere near Knoxville and haven’t tried Iron Works Grille yet, check it out. Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back!

We were cruising along the sky way, decided to stop by iron works grille for lunch. I was sold by a patron walking out to try the river trout.

We were greeted warmly by the staff. We ordered a cheese steak with fries, and the trout with salad and home made chips. The cheese steak was tasty and well seasoned. The trout, was probably about 30 second or so overcooked, but seasoned nicely I still devoured it. The side salad was gigantic but well garnished. The home made chips were delicious.

The views outside were very nice. You hear the babbling water rushing down. It’s a beautiful view, I felt like I could sit out there for hours. It’s a cool place to go hang

Iron Works Grille in Tellico Plains is situated in a prime spot along the Cherohala Skyway, offering beautiful outdoor seating by the river—definitely the main draw of the restaurant. It’s dog-friendly, making it a great stop for those traveling with pets. I arrived for a Tuesday lunch around 11 am, and it was relatively quiet, though it did get busier by noon.

The food was decent, though there were a few misses. We ordered several appetizers: the pretzel was fine, the mango habanero wings were flavorful but not as spicy as expected, and the smoked trout dip came with broken crackers in plastic packages. The fried green tomatoes had a little too much breading, but the pork rinds were hot, tasty, and a generous portion. The “wickles” were very small for the price.

For drinks, the Kentucky Mule was good, served in a proper mug with a $2 upcharge for Maker’s Mark bourbon. Soft drinks were not available the day we visited due to a maintenance issue with their soft drink machine.

The service was friendly, but it did slow down as the place got busier. Additionally, plastic utensils felt a bit out of place, and I had to deal with a dirty appetizer plate. The bathrooms were small, dark, and covered in graffiti, but they were functional enough for a quick stop.

Overall, Iron Works Grill has a lot of potential, especially with the beautiful setting. If you’re looking for a scenic place to relax, it’s worth a visit, but the food and service could use a little more attention to detail.

Iron Works Grille is a wonderful addition to Tellico Plains and a must-stop for anyone driving the Cherohala Skyway. This locally owned small business offers delicious food, a relaxed family and pet-friendly atmosphere, awesome staff and a beautiful view overlooking the Tellico River. Vinit has clearly put his heart into creating a welcoming place for both locals and visitors. It’s great to see this spot thriving again. Definitely worth your time and support.
