This place always gets busy during breakfast time! I usually come here for their tacos Tuesday! Their tacos are amazing! I have also tried their soup, their beef soup is very delicious! I always go there for their shrimp plates too! Their spicy shrimps are amazing! Service always excellent and on point ! The waitress with red hair (sorry I didn’t get her name), always remember my orders and my preference on food and I really appreciate that! Thank you for the great service !

Mi Lindo Apatzingán in Riverside is a hidden gem. The food tasted fresh and homemade, with bold flavors and generous portions. Everything came out hot, well seasoned, and clearly made with care.
The service was friendly and welcoming, and the place had a relaxed, family-style vibe that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal. If you’re in the mood for authentic Mexican food and want something that feels truly local, this spot is absolutely worth a visit.

Hand made corn tortillas, crispy chips, cafe de olla (cinnamon coffee) and friendliest service.

There is an old adage in food criticism that the best flavors often come from the most unassuming places. Mi Querido Apatzingán fits this mold perfectly. It is a restaurant that demands a compromise: if you are willing to overlook parking situation, you will be rewarded with some of the most authentic, handmade Mexican comfort food in the area.
The kitchen here is clearly operating with pride and tradition. The standout of the meal was the Chicken Mole Plate. Mole is a notoriously difficult sauce to master, often leaning too sweet or too bitter, but here they have found a beautiful equilibrium. The sauce offered a complex interplay of sweet and spicy notes that coated the tender chicken perfectly.
Similarly, the Camarones a la Diabla (Deviled Shrimp) lived up to their name. They packed a punch with a heat that was assertive without being punitive, maintaining excellent flavor underneath the spice.
However, the true heroes of the meal were the handmade tortillas. Thick, warm, and fresh off the comal, they transformed the accompanying rice and beans from standard side dishes into a memorable part of the meal. Using a piece of a fresh, handmade tortilla to scoop up that mole sauce is an experience worth the trip alone.
The Atmosphere:
While the food warms the soul, the environment leaves a lot to be desired. The dining room is on the smaller side and feels very intimate. This closeness is exacerbated by the acoustics; the music is played at a volume that makes conversation nearly impossible. If you are looking for a quiet place to catch up with a friend, this isn’t it. You come here to eat, not to chat.
The Logistics
The struggle begins before you even sit down. The parking lot is exceptionally small, turning arrival into a tactical maneuver. I would strongly advise against bringing large groups or multiple cars, as finding a spot can be a headache.
The Verdict
Mi Querido Apatzingán is a destination for purists. It offers authentic, high-quality plates—anchored by those incredible handmade tortillas—but requires you to tolerate a loud, cramped dining room and a difficult parking lot. For the mole alone, I’d argue it’s a trade-off worth making

We called ahead stating we were a large party. I was the first one to arrive and was shocked at how small the restaurant was. They really thought we would fit there. The tables are almost at elbow space. Most of the tables were taken. I figured they wanted us to wait a while until some people left, I was dreading that idea because even then the tables were too close to each other. I figured that it would be fine because of all the good reviews. I did not want to be the Negative Nacy of the group, but then one of the waitresses asked me to wait outside and it was drizzling, Lol. There was no waiting area outside. As soon as you walk out, you are pretty much stepping on a parking space. As soon as my party arrived, one of them went to go check out the layout. Unanimously, we decided to go to California Pizza Kitchen. The summary from me is that the service was not good because I was asked to step outside, the tables are too close together, and the parking is limited. People actually park where it says; No Parking.

The food was absolutely delicious, hearty, and filling. The chips don’t taste like the average corn tortilla chips, they taste homemade! We went in to oder three take out meals, it was a bit loud in there. Other than that, it was all a wonderful experience!

I had their chilaquiles with beans. Best I had by far. The salsa that they give you with their chips has a splendid taste and it is not water down. So if you’re in for authentic Mexican spicy this is the place. Highly recommend we will definitely return.

Pretty good spot for cheap messican food. It’s really small inside but it’s usually not too busy, tacos are pretty cheap and pretty good. Not the best tacos in the world but in the area they’re pretty damn good. The rest of the food is really good too. They serve beer, and have one of those jukeboxes that u can play songs on from ur phone if u have the app (u have to buy credits tho) also they have AC which is a huge plus! I honestly love it here. Nice lil hole in the wall spot.
