Stopped by the Alexandria Bier Garden for a quick beer and pretzel as a pre-New Year’s Eve snack and will definitely be back to hang out longer next time. Given the place was getting prepared for a big bash later in the evening, I was pleasantly surprised how fast and helpful the service was. We walked in as a party of two and easily found a high-top near the bar. Our server/bartender greeted us warmly and made some great suggestions from the drink menu. I opted to try a biertail, aka beer cocktail, and our server recommended the bourbon option as his favorite based on it not being as sweet as the Berliner and other options. That description fit my profile so I went for it and was not disappointed. My husband opted for the dopplebock and that was great as well. We ordered a giant pretzel, which came with beer cheese and two varieties of mustard. The pretzel was soft, almost cake like and not too much salt, which I was happy about. All in all, a great experience and we’ll be back for another visit soon. Thanks!

Love this place. Great beer selection, great food, and a fun vibe. I really like the rooftop and the side room. Highly recommend getting the “bratzel” which is a pretzel and two sausages on top of bratwurst and cabbage. We get it every time. Sebastian has been our server a few times and he is great!

Happy Oktoberfest!

This is my favorite German restaurant, especially during this time of year! My favorite menu items are the giant pretzel and the chicken schnitzel. The best part is that the giant pretzel is served with assorted mustards and most importantly, a beer cheese (THANK YOU! Other restaurants would have given me stadium cheese with my pretzel, it’s nice to have a good complimentary cheese!) For drinks, there’s a variety of beers, I like to get a liter of German beer. There’s even a glass boot to drink from, but I have yet to try that!

The atmosphere is nice too. The music can be loud, but that’s fine by me, you’ll just have to speak up when making your order. I find the staff to be friendly and accommodating every time I visit.

Everyone I take here enjoys it, so I would naturally recommend it to anyone in the area. This is some good German food!

Nice German place in Old Towne. Food was good, drinks were good, service was excellent, the environment was nice. We sat inside in the “garden” area. There was also a bar and roof top!

Good food, good beer, great place to have fun! The atmosphere was very loud although slightly to be expected due to bier garden. Very much recommend this place!

OK reviews on this place are all over the board. As a business owner I know how unrealistic some reviewers are so I’ll clear the air. Atmosphere is super cool – maybe not 100% authentic but let’s say Busch Gardens like – we enjoyed it. Food was also more than good although we didn’t venture hard into the German part of the menu. Either way, realize even the best French, Italian, ect restaurants in town are NOT going to be like you are traveling thru Europe so set your expectations on fair to good and don’t act all world traveler on us. Most important, our service (from Daniel) was fantastic as he worked to hold down the entire bar and high tops around the bar solo. As the other reviews mentioned, yes he was Latino and not a German wearing lederhosen but was more than sufficient. this joint looks cool and serves many German dishes other restaurants don’t offer so you get what you get. Hope this sets the expectations on others considering trying this place. Go in and have a few beers, a real tasty burger or pretzel – it if you really want to be adventurous order something German but be reasonable in your American expectations. My only complaint with this joint would be the same issue as every other bar in old town that doesn’t believe in urinals and stalls. How do you survive with 100 drinkers at night waiting for a one stall Exxon bathroom. The entire town needs to up their game when it comes to bathrooms. Go have a beer and a bite at this joint – you might even have fun like we did!

This place is huge! There are dining rooms adjacent to the bar area, up some stairs brings you to where private parties are reserved, then up a few more stairs there’s a large room with several tables. That is where you can attend Open Mic Comedy sessions every Monday night. Some were funny, some not as much but that’s to be expected. It would have been nice to have had more gals, but there was only one.
The food was delicious (photos are bad as the lights were down for Open Mic). I really liked the chicken tenders. The House Salad & Parmesan Fries were also good.
We had to order food at the upstairs bar. The wait staff was good about clearing the dishes and probably would have brought our food to us but we were checking on it as it came out. The beers are big and there were some interesting choices. The grapefruit drink was refreshing.
Street parking on the side roads is easier to find.

Not the most positive experience. I have a fairly high bar for German food but factoring that, I think this place still misses the mark. Like anything in the King Street area, parking is a challenge. I was fortunate to find parking about a block and a half away, so lucky me. When we went in the sign said wait to be seated but after waiting about 2 minutes in a pretty empty restaurant I found someone to seat us. The ambiance definitely had a Germany feel to it, which was nice; however, the menu was a mix of Mexican and German. My wife and I ordered a platter of mixed sausages (6) and 2 sides. The wursts were great but the red cabbage and German potato salad were nowhere near authentic. The red cabbage had no flavor and the potato salad was missing key flavor ingredients. With 15 years in Germany I know what to expect and think they missed.
